I was mostly with you until you had to belittle all drivers who work at speed regulated fleets. Do you seriously want inexperienced drivers in trucks with no speed max parameter? Furthermore what does a fleet's speed limit have to do with whether most of their drivers are worth a dam?

So. A driver's worth and value is somehow proportional to how fast they [can] drive? Interesting.

You seem to have missed this part of his post:

And while that may step on the toes of a fair number of members around here, that doesn't make it an any less valid point. I've made the same point on here multiple times.

    Compliance does not equal safety.

I think you got it backwards...

It's speed regulated large fleets hiring inexperienced drivers...

These drivers acquire really bad habits, as a direct result of the speed limiter...

When gravity becomes the determining factor in how long a passing maneuver takes...

With the driver attempting to pass blocking the flow, because, you know, eventually he'll get past the other guy...

And the other guy fighting it all the way, cause he ain't backing out of it for nothing...he can only do what he's governed at and the concept of backing out of it never occurs to him....

And all the four wheelers pulling their hair out, getting frustrated and driving crazy...

    That's what causes accidents.

Speed differential is a contributing factor.

Speed in, and of itself....Not really.

It's why states like Ohio got rid of split speed limits.

I own my truck, I can go whatever speed is safe.

I've got 30+ years, no accidents.

My last ticket was in 97.

These e logs are pure bul$#!t.

And the law of unintended consequences is a beoooootchhhh...

And someone said it's projected to save 26 lives a year??

In a sample size of millions, that's statistically equal to zero.

These e logs are creating a frantic desperate situation, as drivers up against hard time boundaries try to overcome that obstacle...

Trying to race around and get every minute they can, that couple of minutes between being perfectly compliant, and in violation, creating a risk taking approach...

Parking in places that are unsafe, and why nobody previously parked parked there, because it's unsafe...

    Now becomes the norm.

It breeds a mindset that is equal to the speed limiter mindset.

A drivers worth is dependent on his abilities and customer service skills.

20:30 on the W.V. turnpike and could hardly find a spot long enough take a 30 min break. Even the adult superstore was standing room only. Either this rule is really changing things or d###o sales are through the roof.
