It has begun..... parking doom!

Great question, as our units from JJ Keller have a similar problem (I think) in that the unit is recording stops one-hour earlier than when it actually happened... so I assume it's a time zone issue. We hope to discuss this with their Tech Support folks this morning to get the last two days worth of logs fixed before getting stopped & checked.

 

It should be recording times based on where you are dispatched from. If you are dispatched from a yard in the est, but you are physically in the cst, then your times will be based on est,

 

"Should" being the operative term.

But I'm beginning to suspect the programmers are basing the time on the internal clock of the tablet/device or the ELD puck is updating "local" time through a cellular network.

On paper this makes sense as your time will automatically update regularly.

But most programmers don't change time zones in an 8 hour shift.

So I think we may be on to something here.

(But then, wez jus a buncha dum hiks holdin them thar starin wheelz)

 

Complete amateur programmers. What are they hiring, 15 year olds? I'd be extremely surprised if the APIs in android and iOS didn't include a function to grab UTC, easy enough to attach time zone to that. They had how long to get this right?

 

What you're dealing with in that particular situation is OTR drivers arriving home or at family for Christmas that are using that lot. Has nothing to do with eLogs.

Around thanksgiving and Christmas you always see this, especially outside of larger towns and cities.

Yeah that's what I thought too I guess my paper log im going on strike and finding a new career buddies must have figured out that other industries arnt standing in line to hire them .lol

 

Thank you. I spoke with our IT guru and he got it fixed since the unit was indeed set-up for Central when it was supposed to be on Eastern. Should be all set now... I hope.
