yes there was.Drivers babysitting me and tried to get me in trouble. It all boiled down to they couldn't handle a lady ahead of them when they started like a half hr before me.A driver and I had many arguments over that actually 3 drivers.I tild them they need to pick up the pace.I never worked with so many whineing babies in my life till this company.Heaven forbid if I take their trk lets send the swat team.Every trk was the same and ran the same.A bunch of babies. They've had females in the past I guess but from what I heard no one lasted even a week.I was there almost 2 yrs.[QUOTE="Hang - Man";3722246]Why ? Right now im on LOA because I hurt my back with the landing gears. Some were in need of new ones and the others just plain hard because of the freezing temps. So while off im looking for another job because I really hate my job.KB as a company is alright but my job truely truely sucks and most the guys I have to work with day in day out,hr after hr.[QUOTE="Hang - Man";3722246]Why ? I did met and get help from some great guys out there without them coming onto me or anything... and they helped me at times.. Once when I was pulled into an Idle Air spot and needed to be pull started.. no power steering.. and it took everything I had and and more to turn the wheel as the wrecker was pulling the trailer and tractor out... My arms were noodles.. and they guy in the truck two spots down helped me out.. he got in and finished it for me.. he didn't make it a male or female thing.. just a driver helping another driver.. and, seriously.. My arms were spent.. it was my first time being pull started.. but, both the men, the driver that helped and the wrecker guy were very supportive and did not make me feel bad for not being able to do it... There was also this Old timer who was very supportive and helped me back into a tight spot in the fog.. it was the worst case scenario for me.. a new driver, tight sopt, fog and to top it off.. Blind side.. which I do not like..He was awesome.. he got up on my driver steps and guided and talked me through it.. showed me what to look for and stuff.. and got me into the space and I learned some useful and important things..

That is the thing.. as a newbie.. you learn enough in school to give you an opportunity to begin to learn.. you learn a bit more with your trainer... even the best trainer can't teach you everything.. As a newbie you will find yourself in situations that you never encountered and some will be hair raising and nerve wracking.. and, you will need help
and advise from other drivers out there.. So as a Newbie... remove any chips from your shoulder.. no matter how awesome you did the day before.. a new day can bring new challenges and the opposite is true as well.. no matter how much trouble you had backing in at the last dock.. you learned and it is a new day and a new dock..
For me, I just dont like to focus on the bad.. I focus on the good and try to look at things in a positive way..

Pattyj.... I know where you are coming from.. I have actually had a few encounters with some KB guys... at a cold storage in Sioux City.. when I was there.. stupid stuff.. like instead of just saying Hi.. it was "Hey Good Looking how is it going" or just the usual testing the waters to see if I have so little self respect that maybe a "quickie" or whatever is a possibility...

Obvioulsy, as a woman you get use to that crap.. but.. it does get so old and it really is annoying...

I saw that KB was hiring. and it was because of the crap that I didn't even consider it...

kb will always hire.Im a local driver and other drivers drop off like flies.Try being a female, its even worse as a local driver there.I've had enough. Most the guards like me more then the other drivers because even though I hate my job I don't give them an attitude.I take my attitude out on other kb drivers.

See if GTI hires in your area. If they do, you'd do well. Plenty of women here and they are treated with respect or the men are shown the door.

Do they hire local drivers?Thats what im looking for.Mainly because of my aging father. He prefers me to stay close to home.Don't wanna be a thousand miles from home if I get (the call)if you know what I mean.Don't exactly know who your post was for but answered it anyway.

I don't know if they do where you are. Because of the merger/acquisition, I don't know what the deal is other than we are staying GTI for a few years.
