Sadly I think this will always be a male dominate profession and no changing that.Every orientation except a couple I was always the only female.Otr never bother me because I didn't have to work with them.But as a local driver it really sucks..

I went to the doctor with the same complaint...
I said "My lower back hurts especially when I move a certain way".
The doc said...... "Don't move that way".

pattyj - when I started with this company 13 years ago, I was the only female driver. Local. At my 1st holiday party where everyone relaxed a little (with a little brown bottle assistance), most of the guys were laughing with me, saying how they had bets I couldn't hang, how they only interviewed me because they were told to, etc. Now I have some amazing friends AND I've surpassed most of those that were here when I arrived (fired, quit, etc.). Now I'm pretty high ranking here, make great money, have great friends - and through the years, I can only thank the ignorant for making me strong enough to excel. Good luck to you finding a place to shine....

 

some men are just jerks....

but its also in how you dress and carry yourself. you dress sleezy or revealing expect attention. if you talk or act like you wanna hop into bed with every guy you meet, expect attention. dont flirt on the radio, dont flash anyone, dont try to use a voice on the cb other than your natural voice. dont talk about sex on the radio our in person and dont play the weeker sex crap....

i was out there 22 yrs and for the most part never had much trouble. but when i did, i always backed them off really quick. and 9 times out of 10 who ever i was running with would stand up for me too.

you see women all the time dressed with revealing clothing, then get mad cuz they get looked at. you are at work, dress like it, & act like it . i have no tolerance for women that give the industry a bad name. this post isnt directed to anyone in particular...just sayin how i feel. i was out there and did my job because i love to drive and thats what i was hired to do. if you wanna wear short shorts and halter tops, work in a bar or a strip joint.
