I have come here for only one reason, to say goodbye to the beautiful people that I have come to love over these last thirteen years. For a little over the last decade, I have been out there, running up & down the awesome American highways, getting paid to be a tourist (my opinion). I just took it all for granted and was very moronic in my of thinking that it will always be there for me, no matter what! I believe Tom Hanks said it best in my situation, Stupid is as STUPID does and I fit that bill perfectly!

I have completely destroyed myself, with my MVR! It hasn't been this bad since high school and even then I never had a "careless driving" citation. I would have never believed in a million years that I be turned away by Swift and it wasn't involved with an accident. They all say the same thing, the citation has to be years old and ALMOST running that stop sign in NYC didn't help either:biggrin_255:! I ended up in the crosswalk...

So now it's been about 8 months since it happened and well over 60 applications I have sent out. They all say the same thing, that citation has to be older than it is.

So anyway Gentlemen & Ladies, thanks for the good times, bad times, SLOW mileage times & the learning experiences and that one guy out there that taught me something about sliding my tandems, just move them toward the end that is over weight and you will never go wrong. Yeah, it never went wrong...

    Goodbye....:biggrin_25525:

You're applying to the wrong companies. Avoid the bottom feeders and you should be able to find something. Unless you're just burned out on the road.

I'm kind of curious just how bad the MVR is and how it got that way. Well....I suppose it's obvious how it got that way.....

That careless charge is a serious thing in trucking.I had one and companies wouldn't give me the time of day.I didn't know I even had a reckless ticket till 2 yrs later when Schuster told me.Reason being is because I was parked in a no parking zone on a dirt lot which was McDonalds.I guess in Mass they consider that reckless driving although I wasn't even in my trk.Had I known that was the ticket I would have fought it but I thought it was only a no parking ticket.I hate to say it but im afraid the OP is SOL till the charge is at least 2 and a half yrs old then the smaller companies may give you a chance.Did with me anyway. But I was also close friends with an O/O he pulled some strings to get me hired.I was with a company a good portion of that time and I did not tell them about the ticket even after I found out it was reckless.Even though I didn't care for the company when I received that ticket I just sucked it up and stayed their anyway.

    WOW!

I wasn't prepared for these wonderful replies! Give me just a moment and I will be explaining a few things...

123456...You won't believe this but that is where I just came from! I was driving for a company called JPS in Melrose Park, IL, a small Chicago burb. I was one of two American's at the company. It was Lithuanian owned. No, I don't speak a single syllable of it. They were very outlawish and I didn't say no. I got a taste of that money and got GREEDY! I would do loads that were honestly setup for teams. And I kept going with it, I LET my job destroy me. So yeah, I destroyed me.

LAGBROS...Yes, indeed sir. I have applied to very fine companies and when that didn't work out I went for the bottom feeders...

WINDSMITH.... Who would you suggest? Like I said, I have tried some of the good one's and I just figured if they weren't interested, then I better change up and apply to the others that will hire anyone. However, bottom feeders they might be but they aren't hiring people that have a recent "careless driving".

How did my MVR get this way? My stupidity and GREED! I did whatever load they asked me to do and didn't care. It's nothing but DUMB LUCK that I didn't kill someone on that road for being so tired all of the time. Get this, in my time there (1 1/2 years) I turned in maybe 20 logs and that was when I first started. My dispatcher came to me and told me not to worry about my logs, that he would take care of it. All I had to do was make them look good for the Police & DOT out there on the road. T

The Careless Driving came from my almost falling asleep at the wheel in KY and an officer was behind me. I realized really quick that I had to stop and when got to the top of the next off ramp, he turned on his lights and wasn't happy. Can't say I really blame him either...

Gentleman & ladies, any suggestions I'm more than willing to listen to. Even a basher, if they so choose....:)

If you need about 3 years for these citations on your MVR to be outside the time frame a lot of carriers check, then you would still qualify at many carriers who want experience from within the past 5 years. It may be a blessing that you were put in this position you are in now before your habits could have resulted in something more severe than moving violations, such as a prison sentence.

Take the time to reflect back on where you went wrong and plot a new course. A second chance will come. :)

I would have plead not guilty to the careless and offered the prosecutor a guilty plea to something else...like left of center of something.
