I got my license on my own with a rented truck. Got a job driving truck for 6 months on the wheat harvest which by the way was some of the best times i've ever had in my life. Came home when it was done and started hauling grain for a guy that heard I would do a good job for him. I'm still driving for him, its a small company just me the owner and a part time guy. We haul grain which in our area is mostly the spring and fall and when we don't have any to haul I go out on the road with the flatbed. I could'nt be happier.

Started out local for a greenhouse hauling plants to nurseries in little trucks mostly. Those nurseries are staffed with my kind of people - young, good-looking girls! Got to take the '78 KW COE and the brand new '84 Pete COE down south to pick up melon loads. I was skeered to talk on the CB! I wish I could be 21 again.

Then got hired at local trash hauling outfit driving Macks and learned a lot there.

Did some excavating & paving and welding and construction jobs also for a well-rounded edumacashkin.

Never did think those big OTR box companies were a good deal for a driver. Still don't!

There's plenty of local driving jobs. You wannabees really don't have to ##### yourselves out to those mega corp. OTR fleets.
