OK, I guess I'm the type of square-head that needs things laid out as simplistic as possible, so I'll ask my question in as little words as possible --
What would be the quickest, most inexpensive, way for an ex-driver with 8 years of non-current experience, and a forfeited CDL to get an OTR job with a company that has an on-board pet policy??
And YES, I HAVE prayed for a miracle!! So, no more comments from the peanut gallery! LOL

Get you some viable references that will say your a top hand.
Its very easy to paint your own picture if you pick up the brush .
As long as your MVR is clean you should be able to easily write your own ticket.

SURE IT TAKES BALLS! but it does in fact work.
All you need is three years of references that may be contacted, the rest is a 7 year faded history of companies that have folded.
So ..... get your CDL and write your own ticket from there.

Get ready for the trucking Net Nannies they'll be along shortly with a shopping list of "FEARS" and potential consequences etc.

    Simple as it gets . . . . .

THANK YOU!! Now that's the kind of reply I was looking for! I'm not worried about the Nannys. Everyone's situation is different. When you're 41, been laid off for 2 years, being evicted from your appartment, and having to move back in with family tomorrow because you're flat-broke you do what you have to do! I know my situation isn't unique right now. I'm sure there's a lot of drivers in my exact situation. I haven't even been able to think straight lately, so thank you for the "sound" advice. :biggrin_25514:
    Anyone else?

    Hello everyone:

I'm new to trucking, in fact I will most likely be starting school in March.

I have read through all 19 pages on this Forum. What is very evident is KLLM is a Very Good Company. They are also one of the companies that my school is recommending.

Anyway, after reading all the good stuff and some of the minimal bad, I've decided on KLLM.

Any KLLM Drivers that know if KLLM allows the drivers to Take The TRUCK Home for HOMETIME, once you are upgraded to 1st seat!

I Emailed KLLM and got a response that they only allow this if you are more than 150 miles from your terminal, (mine will be Jackson). Currently, I live a meer 97 miles from Jackson.

    Does anyone know about this???

    I'd appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for all the good information.

    I guess I missed it!

    What is the answer?

Don't feel like reading through 19 pages again!

according to what YOU posted, no, you won't be allowed to take the truck home because you live less than 150 miles from the terminal.

For what it's worth, I have never had a CDL. I have been emailing with a KLLM recruiter and was told as long as it's a 160 course.

As for pets, it's my understanding because alot of the freight being food they dont allow pets in the trucks.

My understanding of why some companies, KLLM for instance (no pets in company trucks, sorry) do not allow pets is MONEY. Of course, it is the SOLE purpose for corporate America these days. Pets run up idle time, pure and simple. Idle time = lost revenue.

    trucker43 Thanks this.
