Well, out here on the West Coast, we are shutting down for a week to take a vacation from supporting the oil companies. This is to start May 1, 2008 through May 8, 2008. It is time that we show America that TRUCKS MOVE AMERICA. And they will see it if we buy no fuel of any kind, no diesel, no gasoline, no propane. We need the support of all the truckers and their families, so come Join the Cause.

Hello all. this is my first post. I will apologize in advance if I step on any toes. I have been at this 15 years. That doesn't mean much. Here's my opinion how to make this work and what to work on.

Fuel- We need to have a price in mind. I would start at $1.00 a gallon and maybe settle for $1.50. That would depend on the rest of the negotiations. The oil companies are reporting the highest profit ever! That's funny knowing that they used to take diesel out in the dessert and burn it to get rid of it. Out of one barrel there is only a certain percent that can be made into gas. The rest is a bi-product called diesel. You may have heard of it.

Brokers-One more reason we are in the shape we're in. There should be a cap on what they can take off of the top. There should a limit or do away with the brokers. I have called on loads trying to get the rate up and they won't budge because someone will haul it cheap. They don't care about us. Never have. I have no problem throwing them under the bus.

Lumpers- Why should we have to pay to unload our trailer? Some places you HAVE to pay because you're not allowed on the docks. If you call your broker they say that it's in the rate. How can this be?

Tolls-I pay a highway use tax and IFTA. How many taxes can they want? It's all double and triple taxation. I want to pay the same as a car or not at all. There was a tea party awhile back because of this.

Here's where I'm going to step on toes. We need to cripple everyone and everything. This may take violence. So be it. Some of you run your jib all day long about crap. Put that hate and discontent to work. Where are you now? Some of you think this is your time to shine because you're not going to strike. This means you too. You big company drivers need to want to do this OR be scared to do this. Which ever one I don't care. Your company will threaten to fire you. Some of you will lose your jobs. We are loosing everything. I am sure you will get you jobs back. Your company probably needs drivers as it is. You are not just a driver, you are the heart of your company and America. You need to help the whole industry. We need your help. I am not afraid. Three days or so is worth a lifetime of screwing.

I would like to meet all of you and talk about it. If we are going to do this, let's do it right! Can or did someone set a place to gather? Please let me know.

Im am with you! Although I am not a driver yet, I do have a mother that drives as will I when I get back in country. The time to be diplomatic and the sit back and see what happens approach WILL NOT WORK! How the hell do you think we got into this situation in the first place? We trusted our government to take care of us and that my friends has NOT happened. If it takes me loosing my job and getting into a punchup with someone to change the way this country is being takin down, so be it! There is power in numbers! A small little protest is not going to work, this has to be nationwide and it has to be firm! Americans voices have been shut out and we need to make a change and unfortunetly diplomacy does not work in this time and age. The government does not fear a strike because most of you fear the government and what actions may be takin against you if you do shut this country down, but like I said there is power in numbers and if we can get all of America on board they will listen and change will happen! Im tired of watching good people get crapped on and crooked oil companies reaping the benifits!

We need all truckers to agree on a start date for a shutdown. The local trucks that run out of Savannah Ga. Port have been calling out April 3. I drive for another person who owns several trucks, his response was we have to do something and you guys drive them so do what you have to do....I'm taking a vacation starting April 3rd.:biggrin_25523:

We have got to get the entire nation in on this "vacation from supporting the Oil Companies for a week" and that means everyone. Out West we are looking at May 1st for our "vacation", and I'll tell ya why. Becxause May 1st gives everyone enough time to get themselves ready and stocked up on toilet paper and then we will be ready. I agree that we need more than just lower fuel prices, less taxes on taxes (without representation I might add), and less profit for the brokers. But we have to do this at the same time all across the nation. Lets show them that we can stick together and we do move the nation. Join the Cause!!!!:biggrin_25519: Elect a leader to represent us and get the job done.
We can't go on much longer this way. Too many have already had to park their trucks because they can't afford to run them.:biggrin_25510: We have to get angry and do something about it. Keep me in the loop. What day are we going on vacation for a week? April 3rd or May 1st? Let's decide on a date for the entire nation.

1 hour ,no one will notice. 4 hours no one will notice. 1 day no one will notice. A 3 day + will make some notice.
Pres Bush is out of touch , he has no clue that fuel for cars will be $4gal by summer and $5 gal for trucks . There has to be backing and organization. You need have media contacted . You don't have to call it a strike , it could be the Blue Flu.
    good luck .

These wet blanket types really never cease to amaze me !!! If we all felt like this then nothing will ever change. I've been running cross country for 29 years now and I have never seen conditions like this ??? I've participated in every truck strike that has came along and all of you wet blankets say we never get heard or make a difference ??? Do you remember what we done in Indiana years ago about the speed limit issue just by not stopping in Indiana or buying fuel there ??? It didn't take long to get things changed because all the truckstops n bussinesses along the interstates were hammering the Indiana Goverment and they raised the speed limit in like 2 weeks !!! I'll be parking mine (a RGN ) and putting it out where everyone can see it with a sign on the trailer saying ""ON-STRIKE DUE TO FUEL PRICES "" and also saying that those same prices cost all of us more money in everything we do whether you drive a truck or not like 5$ a gal milk and a 3$ loaf of bread and to help support my ideas because I'm only trying to make a better world for ""ALL"" of us by bring costs down for all of us !!!! Look for my trailer sitting around the I-70 and RT 1 interchange at Marshall ILL next month !!!!! :smt066
