I remember the O/O's shutting down I80 in 1974(?) when fuel hit 59cents and I beleive the last straw was 55mph. Then they drove past the Capital in DC. Most citizens do not equate $108bl. on their grocery bill as quickly as they do at the pump. Will take some real PR to get them to give up a dime to truckers, actually that dime just became 7cents. Why would any government want to see oil prices go down in a recession. Lower sales tax revenues on property to new cars is already being felt by states, higher fuel price only contributes more tax. I could go on, but it just upsets me more.

diesel is 4.49 in Clare Michigan, tonight, if ever you guys are going to strike, now seems the time to do it. diesel is getting so high it is driving truckers off the road, my neighbor has had his parked for a while now. How soon, before companies start laying off drivers?
If you guys are going to strike, do it now.

I am going to chime in here! Our gas did go up! It is now I believe $3.50 it was just $3.29.

That's the only thing I want to add, at least that's in Indianapolis

That's a big hit for us as well! I would love to shut down all BUSINESS for a day due to gas prices, however that isn't how to handle the situation as my boss would just fire me and find someone else cheaper and younger and sexier to replace me :). I had to add that because he probably would do just as I said. l.o.l.

I don't know maybe it would do some good, however I am not sure if it will ever happen. It's been tried before and hardly any drivers participate.

I think we should all just push for cost of living raises and deal with our bosses!

What might do some good is

Exactly what I am thinking here :).

Especially the recession part.I believe they are scared to admit we are in recession for some reason.

I know medical people are making it hard on me by turning a 40.00 bill into a 440.00 bill. Now what makes them think I can pay that if I couldn't pay the 40.00 bill??? Hmm?? Doesn't make sense in half the crap the goverment allows to happen.

An hour would make a difference if you parked all of the trucks on the side of every major interstate, not the T stops or rest areas. You have people running there ##### off right now to try and make up for the high cost of fuel and every thing else so it's unlikely you could convince them to shut down for day or more but one hour should be no problem.

Maybe two or three hours would be better, would give the news agences more time to get out and cover the story!
