And their master plan is working! If it's such a good arrangement for the company, then why are YOU going broke?

You have no idea what the individual circumstances are for anyone! That was just rude and uncalled for.

I am embarrassed by the behavior of a great deal of these protestors. The attitudes towards others who cannot or will not shutdown (for whatever reason, and it's no one else's business!) is nothing more than bully tactics.

What's wrong with saying "I understand, wish you could help, but I understand. Good luck and God bless?"

I'm now NOT supporting this effort and will be dispatching my trucks first thing in the morning.

That is your choice, it is not helping any of us trying to get control of what is going on, but like I said it is your choice. Our company is shut down. Our property taxes have more than doubled in northern Indiana. Now the toll road is charging double the fee for people who pay with cash. If you have I Zoom you will have to give them a open door to your checking account. NOT FOR ME. To many identity thefts are arising from programs like this. In order to get tax cuts on property, we now have a higher sales tax and it also includes food now. The oil companies have made record profits and toot their horns about it, and our illustrious government has just granted them billions in tax credits. My company is NOT subsidized in any way. What has the government done for me. Nothing to benefit me. I respect drivers who still have to work due to threats of losing their job. I respect drivers who are owner / operators who have to work with the idea they may get lucky and keep up on the truck payment and put food on the table. Hey I am not ignorant to the fact some of us are in dire straights now. The cost of Freedom is bull S__t and we can thank our government leaders for selling us out. This effort is just the beginning. maybe we can overcome this, if not how many O/O and small companies will fail. Then think of this. If we fail, we will be on the unemployment line. Then you can help to support that. If the government can't continue its quest - what ever it is then you can welcome Socialism where big brother tells you what to do and if you are good you may have a house to live in.

Agreed- Our brokerage side has stopped taking them on, becasue it takes too much manpower and time to try to cover them.

$2.00 + FSC is the average now. Nothing below $1.50 + FSC is even looked at by me.

Now see your missing the whole point of the strike. It's not only about putting more money in our pockets......it's also about putting money back into the pockets of the American people! Even if you dont haul anything under $2.00 per mile is the cost of diesel still not cutting into your profits? Are you not having to budget your self a little more than before and are you also not providing for your family as well as you would like. If so then why is that? Even if you do raise your rates for the things you haul your still shooting yourself in the foot because you are paying more for the things you need at the store. No matter if its cloths or food your still going backwards!

You know that anytime costs goes up for us so does it for everyone else and that is hurting.....no, that is killing the economy! This strike is to show the government and big oil that we, as Americans will no longer be taken advantage of. As i have stated here before the government will not do this and that we should step up to the plate and do something about it for ourselves and everyone else as well!

Now have you watched the news or heard about the 5 biggest oil execs being brought before the house to explain there obscene profits? Between the 5 of them they have made 122 billion dollars profit last year and do you know how? Off of the backs of hard working people like you and me! You know what the kicker is....your gonna love this. THEY STILL WANT THE 18 BILLION DOLLARS IN TAX BREAKS THAT THE GOVERMENT GIVES THEM!

.......it all boils down to this. If we wont stand up for our selves then why should we expect anyone else to do it for us!

American revolution, U.S. civil war, WWI, WWII, Korean war, Vietnam war.. etc etc... ever here of these?.. Violence is not always needed as a initial response, but I don't think we need to debate the effectiveness.

    Fellow Truckers,
I am proud to hear that the NJ Turnpike has been shut down with hundreds of Trucks! I stand with you brothers! My Truck is parked in the yard where it has been for 4 months. I will not truck again until we get some real changes.

The issue is- you will never win an argument over oil profits by not looking at net profit as compared to other business. As a percentage, they are right in line. They made 11% profit last year- someone here wanted brokers to make 15%. (?)

Other problem is, if you are against the oil companies making profits, you are in effect under the cause of the redistribution of wealth. And if they can't make money, why should we? Slippery slope! Thus, you are in effect- supporting socialism! Is that what you want now? Pay everything you make to the government and you get only enough back for you to survive? Is that the result now? I'll pass.

Standing up for yourself means NOT hauling a cheap load! Park your truck. If you can't make it work, don't drive- do something else. Pull yourself up by your straps, and figure it out. Eventually the shippers will raise rates, and the situation fixes itself, and probably pretty darn rapidly. Problem is, not enough people have the drive to do that- but I refuse to believe that most truckers are part of that group.

But to a certain extent, kermit is right. You need to know your costs, and adjust your business plan accordingly. Don't assume that anyone knows your costs to run your business. I'd rather rely on myself to set my costs and expectations, not the government.

If you want cheap fuel we need to fight against prohibition of industrial hemp. (if 6% of american soil/farmland was used for hemp we could supply all the electricity, clothing, fuel, paper, and a whole list of other things in the U.S) 6 states have already approved this but are being held back by the DEA. :biggrin_25513:

1 acre of hemp can produce 300 gallons of fuel and as much paper as 4 acres of trees, along with other uses. No part of the plant is wasted.

P.S you can't get high off of hemp.
