HI. Im not a driver but have been involved with drivers most of my life either in a relationship or now as a cashier # a small local truckstop in NE Pa. As i watched the prices of fuel climb and watched many independent guys start losing their trucks; i knew it would come to a unorganized gathering of parked trucks. Last night i worked and when i left our small lot was FILLED to capacity as was the lot across the street from us.
The news media is beginning and i wish u all the BEST of LUCK. this not only affects U drivers but the nation as a whole - u guys dont move the freight - it causes increases across the board for consumers. America needs to wake the heck up and support our own for a change!!!
GOOD LUCK to all those who are parked and i hope this is a start IF u all can continue forward with it for the ........."longhaul"
It's time for a strike!

You have no idea what the individual circumstances are for anyone! That was just rude and uncalled for.
I am embarrassed by the behavior of a great deal of these protestors. The attitudes towards others who cannot or will not shutdown (for whatever reason, and it's no one else's business!) is nothing more than bully tactics.
What's wrong with saying "I understand, wish you could help, but I understand. Good luck and God bless?"
I'm now NOT supporting this effort and will be dispatching my trucks first thing in the morning.Click to expand... -

Fellow Truckers,
I am proud to hear that the NJ Turnpike has been shut down with hundreds of Trucks! I stand with you brothers! My Truck is parked in the yard where it has been for 4 months. I will not truck again until we get some real changes.Click to expand... -

Just because I am not going to throw everything away because you think I should because you think it is right. Hmmm, let me weigh this out put my kid through college or make a stand with you???? Funny how you think that all company drivers should back you. I have talked to O/O's that said they would not strike because there was no need too. Granted there are some that are in a jam and need to do something, but plenty of them said they work smart. My cousin who has been an O/O for over 30 years told me if he strikes he loses. He said his fuel surcharge would pay for all his fuel if his truck got a little better mpg. He said if drivers would pick a better co to run for their fuel problems would be solved. His truck made $1400 yesterday including his detention. He said why would he strike and make nothing?
No doubt there are those who are struggling right now, but if you can't even get the O/O's to agree how do you expect for company drivers to lose their jobs over this? Some people are striking because they believe it will make a difference, others just want to buck up every chance they get. You got the nerve to call me negative when you and a few others took my post and said I was a wet blanket. I compared what is my opinion of how the GM strikes hurt the strikers more in the long run. Negative is when you block traffic so ambulances can't get to someone in time to rescue them. I am not out to hurt your efforts. You have enough of you doing that as it is.Click to expand...I see by your other post that you confirmed what I have allways known about company drivers !! That they have allways been jealious about the lack of being in a decent looking truck that would get out n run like most OO trucks !!! That is the benifit that you I guess think you will see out of this is that there will be no OO people left and what will be out there will have ugly trucks ??? Then we would all be like a big heard of sheep all driveing ugly no frills company owned n controled company trucks ?? In the near future they will have the ability to not only hear what you are saying but see you in the cab 24/7 as well !!!
You are a wet blanket and you and people like you not supporting this effort does it harm !!! Its not a matter of standing with me or beside me but standing with all of us ??? There you go whining about GM n Anderson IND again ???? Move to mexico allready ok ??? I wouldn't want a ambulance not to get through but yes I'm all for blocking up the roadways !!! But of course that would hender you n your company truck I guess now wouldn't it ???
I hope your company gig doesn't change for you but at the same time I know that there will come a point that when this fuel n expenses issue will even get to your company and then when they start cutting corners from your side of the table we will see how happy you are ????
Don't come crying to me there Mr Company Truck Driver ???
Ain't it a kick that through all of this bickering n stuff that there are those of us trying to make a difference n a better working enviroment for all OO's n trucking owners trucking companys ect ect ect that would eventually even filter down to better conditions and more money n bennifits for these ""Company Truck"" drivers and here we are putting up with all this ""Wet Blanket"" lip ?????

lol wow. Company drivers are jealous of Owner Ops? Yeah, Ill keep that in mind as I pass by some of the owner ops who dont know (or think they know) how to run their business and fail miserably and sell their truck.
Sorry, but your rant was just what i needed this morning for a good laugh. Not only did I stop halfway through beacuse coffee was coming out of my nose...I thought about going out to put my waders on because the font was turning brown and I felt like I was wading through a big pile of poo. Secondly, as I go out to get my waders, seems I need to make some tinfoil caps for the conspiracy theorists out there. -

YOU CAN MAKE THE GAS COMPANIES PUT $1000s BACK INTO YOUR PCKETS?
Get your money back! Restitution now! Gas price reduction today! You the American consumer must make a concerted effort to ensure that oil companies are held liable for inflating the cost your gas. Make no mistake about it there is a direct correlation between the record breaking profits the glutinous oil companies are making & the price you are paying at the gas pump. Today (04/01/08), Congress is even feeling the heat so much so that they are now forced to address the top five oil companies record breaking profit of $128 billion dollars on Capitol Hill today people. $13 to $18 billion dollars of tax cuts, given to the oil companies may now be reversed.
However, unless you the suffering consumer insists on restitution, liability, and most importantly a thorough neutral third party investigation into this rip off scam (via lawsuit or through some other legal course of action), nothing will happen. If you pressure your congressman/senator/governor; making it clear that either he/she pressures Capitol Hill to lower gas prices and give you back the monies that have been stolen from your pockets for the last six years the was or he/she will not be in office next election. This for the most part could mean $1000s of dollars being returned to your wallet. If you are a truck driver you could be entitled to even more cash back into your wallet and of course a huge drop in oil prices.
Today you have the power to reduce the cost of gas and even demand restitution for the money you have already had stolen from your wallet. That $128 billion dollars in profit is your money. Thats right your money. Even more gas prices may go back to where they should be no more than $2.00 a gallon. Pass this information on especially to all truck drivers as a blog, in a forum such as this, even on youtube for those of you who are able.If nothing else just copy and paste into another forum or blog and or give a printed copy to others. Are you made as he!!! ? Well then what are you waiting for just do it Timing is everything and the time is now! STRIKE!

THANK YOU!!! IF MORE O/O's DID THIS THE FRIEGHT WOULD GO UP!!! KNOW YOUR OPERATING COST AND DON'T EVER HAUL FOR LESS!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD RATHER SIT AT HOME DRINKING A BEER GOING BROKE THAN GOING BROKE HAULING fOR SOMEONE ELSE! NEVER EVER HAUL CHEAP FRIEGHT! WE NEED TO STOP CRYING ABOUT FUEL PRICES, HAS ANYONE LOOKED AT OTHER COUNTRIES TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE PAYING? IF YOU DID THEN YOU WOULD QUICKLY REALIZE MAJORITY OF COUNTRIES ARE PAYING MORE FOR FUEL THEN WE ARE!
