FIrst of all I own my own truck and trailer and I run under my own authority! I am not leased nor contracted to anyone but hey what do I know. You are the obvious ones having trouble out there makinjg money with your 30 years expeirence, and myself with 3 years is making PLENTY of money to support my wife and son! Now hows that working for you? Its working just fine for me, and there is plenty of o/o's not having a problem! Quit whining and raise your rates! Its that simple, business skills 101..... You have been driving for 10 plus years and you still haven't figured out how to make money? Its sad when I can, but you can't.... It can be done my friend, money is out there to be made! And I get paid well for owning my own business......

If you can't make money in the field you are in, then there is NO DEMAND for example Dumps and Loggers. So either you fight for that field to pick up or you sell you trailer and go buy a different one. One word on buying trailers, AUCTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Quite whining and raise your rates"?

Whats that do to the elderly and those on a fixed income when they can no longer afford a loaf of bread?
Man you do not belong in the trucking industry! Go to Mexico and push your BS down there!:biggrin_25513:

Its life, they need to complain to the governement for assitance, and this is the EXACT reason I am taking care of myself for retirement. A loaf of bread is not going to cost $2 forever, it will always go up its called inflation! I can't worry about others, I need to make sure I am taken care of first!

You're right, there are plenty of O/O's making money because they have found their niche. That niche btw is like the "gravy train", someday it's all gonna end. It has nothing to with how smart you are, but you should know it will end and prepare for that situation; and make plans to find something else.

I don't know about logging, but the dump biz was killed off because of too many trucks chasing too few loads and the simple fact that there is contingent particularly in Cal that will run for far less than the rest of dump truck O/O's. Add to that the belief that brokers and contractors buy the fact that these "bottom feeders" work harder for less. One of my contractors who I have known for almost 15 years as a co-worker from the past, uses them and will call me when he can't find anyone else. I charge $80 per hour for my ten wheeler, his other dump truck company charges $60 and their drivers get lost, don't know where the dumps are, so my contractor tells me to "babysit" them. He's admittedly cheap just like many other contractors. In the end, they'll spend a "Dollar to save a Dime".

Do not count your chickens before they hatch there...Your train could come to a grinding halt...The economy is not gravy and it is heading right to the outhouse....

And sense you do not care about the one's that are having troubles and if you fall flat on your face I hope you will wake up and see what others are going through.

I still like to know what Mexican Trucker coming into the States have to do with the topic at hand
