Hey I think shutting down beside the road is a great idea,
we need to get organized so we can get ready for it. Bring grill's, food, drinks ect. Have a big get together, make a day of it. Then mabe we could coax the one's that are reluctant to stop to pull over with us??? And come on no name calling plz. This would get BIG media attention if we could stand together show a united front. This could be a start. And it might lead to bigger better things. A day here and there would not break the bank and keep food off the table.

So is this what trucking has turned into.....a bunch of spineless cowards ready to tuck tail and run rather then stay and fight? Of course nothing will get done if we dont take a stand or if we continue to bend over any time the government or your company wants stick it to us! If you will not take a stand for your self then take a stand for the people that you love! As bad as it is now can you imagine how it will be 20 years from now?? Think about your kids and what kind of world they have to look forward to and then think of how you will tell them that you had a chance to make a difference but you didnt want to take the effort or time to try. All of you know that what happens to us directly effects the American economy and it will only get worse if nothing is done!
Some one asked how we would spread the word. Uh hello...can you say Internet or CB radio??? Set a time and date for the strike and post it on every forum you can find. Make a video about the details of the strike and the reason for it then post it on Goggle, You tube, Yahoo, AOL, or what ever else is out there, hell run and add in your local paper. Stand out on the front porch for Gods sake and scream it to the world, do what ever it takes to get the word out!!!!
Parking on the side of the road will not make a difference you say?? So what would you want to do, park in a T stop or rest area so you could be with the rest of the drivers that dont give a ####! Parking on the side of every major interstate/highway would be the best place to park because of the fact that everyone would see us, wonder what the hell we were doing and then start asking questions. Make a big sign and tie it to the side of your truck saying why your parked. Tell people that if things were better for us then they would be for them as well because it would lower the cost of just about everything. Get the people on our sides so that they will start raising as much hell as us and then you will see a drastic change in the way we are treated.
Or do nothing. -

Trucking is just a job and a business.. a battlefield mentality makes no sense here. this is not a situation where working harder will make a difference, your costs remain the same and your margins will not improve.. therefore who are you fighting?.. would you want government subsidized fuel paid for at taxpayer expense? or the government forcing businesses to pay more for shipping products? another burden passed on to the general public.. this is a NO WIN situation, the world is growing and consuming more fuel, its not just us anymore. Get ready for a DRAMATIC lifestyle change.
This is what happens when free housing vouchers are offered, then run out... imagine the effect if it was fuel and food!...

I think I'm in the right spot here, hope so anyway...
My household feels that a strike is warranted, past due, etc.. Husband works for a small, but good, company. Not sure if the owner(who I told about this forum today) would go along with it, but hubby would take time off if had to..
sooo...
not sure if this has been thought of, didn't see it but..
part of a strike is based on emotion! Fear, anger, resentment, any emotion you can think of..... Wherever, however, or whenever this is done, it needs to be done with emotional control! Lets just say for example, you have a group of drivers together, "emotion feeds emotion", and an uneducated 4 wheeler comes along and starts yelling things,"get back to work" etc.etc... now you have another "emotion feeding emotion" situation and if media wasn't looking before, they will be now!
I feel we need to stand up and achieve something but it needs to be done with control, not feeding the image that some people seem to have about drivers...
Just my two cents worth -
I have been reading all this and the time is now this morning a barrel of oil went to 110.70 a barrel and they are saying it well not stop there for us to look for 120.00 a barrel . we dont need to stop on the roads or slow down we need to take them to the house and go on vac . i parked mine yesterday i have had enough the only way it well happen is to quite talking about it and do it the more we wait the more it well go up . we need to go after the cost of fuel and the prise of freight the brooker are killing us . the only way we r going to get out of a ression is to get the prise of fuel down then people well start to buy again and we r the only ones that can do . are goverment sure no going to get the jog done . it well take at least one week if we all well pull to gether and do it .
