Not to be snippy....but, your attitude has a lot to do with the expressed attitude in the responses you get. Thus being called a, kid.
XLSDRAW, could have called you something else.

Also, it might seem to some as whining because of the phrasing of some of your questions.
Your trainer hosed you over butt good, though, that doesn't mean your not smart enough to figure out somethings on your own. Its a part of life that we occasionally have to learn the hard way to get it right the next time out.

Glad that you got the paperwork figured out and are getting a load that will work in you HOS available.

    heres a question, wrote nicely,

I was down in Laredo waiting for shop for 5 days, Shop status the whole time. I was told I would get shop pay. 2 checks have passed and I haven't gotten it. I've asked my dm about it and haven't gotten anywhere. Payroll tells me to go threw my dm. Any clue on my next move?

I wish I was a kid, those were the good days, biggest worry in life was school work.

I'am a kid in the trucking world i suppose. I learn new stuff daily. It really is crazy how much there is to this. If only people realized how much more there is then just holding a steering wheel. Turns out driving is the easy part.

well, lets see, lose paper work in cyber space, holly crap is that what i can look for ward to this summer if i come back to trucking, back in the 90's you just put your paper work in the yellow envelope and drop it in the yellow box at the truck stop, if you can't do that can you drop it at the terminal when ever you drive by and say heres the papers leave me alone ha ha ha, as for the batterys going dead just two things i can think of, check those battery cables on the batterys and pull and twist them to make sure there good and tight, if there fine then by chance are you running to much stuff like lights radio for 3 hours or more this could kill the battery if it doe's not have a fuse to cut off the circult to save the battery power to start the truck, also is the amp gauge on the dash stay above 14 volts, check the cable going to the alternator too, i hope this helps some, good like

Remind DM again, a q/c message should be sent to you when it is sent through. Fleet manager is next, then terminal manager. They must associate the pay with a trip, should come to about $50 a day. I don't know why payroll couldn't help you. Just be politely persistent.

you need to send a msg to your dm with the date and time shop status started and the date and time that it ended....they do not track shop/break down status...after you send the msg wait an hour or so and if you do not get a response saying that your dm has received the msg then ask your dm if he/she got it...if not forward the msg onto the fleet manger

Yeah, I think they only go by 24hr periods for breakdown/layover pay. Then I asked because my layover pay didn't come in yet.

I was down for 47 hours, so I only got one days pay. Feels like you're getting ripped off, but hey, what else is new.

It sounds like it may be tie to sit down with your DM and have a face-to-face. If I remember right, you're out of the OKC terminal. Correct me if I'm wrong. Overall, a decent bunch of folks. I'm in that yard right now. If your DM doesn't seem to want to work with you, your next step would be to see the Fleet Manager at your terminal about getting a different DM. Sometimes that's all it takes. We work better with some folks than with others. It shouldn't be a really big deal.

If your DM can't straighten out your pay issues, definitely see your Fleet Manager. In person, presentable and polite is your best approach. Itls more difficult to blow someone off when they are right in front of you.

Try to not paint a whole group with such a broad brush. One person does not determine the culture of a company with over 20,000 employees. Your DM might just be one of "those" folks. In this company, there are so many levels to the "food chain" you should be able to find relief somewhere along the climb to the top. Just remember to approach politely and try to not be accusatory in your presentation. I've found they can be much more of an asset to you if you spread a little honey around.
