You’re going to need 1-2 years experience, before thoughts of jumping ship. Furthermore, I’d suggest having a more positive outlook, when going to work at your first company. With the right mindset, a first driving job could become your only driving job.

I believe camera is always on, just records in the event of an incident. Either way, be wary.

I'm not planning on doing anything stupid but yeah, I'm a little leery. The camera I think is on but only starts recording if something happens. Supposedly. I don't know, it's a job and I'll be careful.

Wasn't really planning on moving companies for the first year anyway. What they offered me seems to work for me. All the job openings state 3-6 months experience needed, so once I have that in the bag, at least I'll be "qualified" on paper. But again, I wasn't thinking about anywhere else for the time being.

Lots of positive press from drivers at IWX, so hang in there. That company has drivers that have been there for years, so that's a good indication. You'll get a lot of miles at IWX and see the country. Best wishes.

I've heard good stuff throughout the years and I liked the offer. IWX recruiter told me the same thing --- truckers like them and stick with them. The trainer who tested me was unfriendly, but hopefully I don't have to deal with him again. If IWX sucks, I'll move to a different company, but at this point, I'm expecting good things out of them and in return I'll try to make them proud. It helps that I'm only 15 minutes from the terminal too, so that was also a (positive) consideration.

I drive for IWX and have yet to catch the camera “on”. Other than when creeping thru a truck stop the truck “lurched” when it hit a hole. The green exclamation point came on indicating the camera had been triggered.

I was leary of the camera facing me. It’s actually turned in a direction that it can only see the driver seat. It doesn’t see into the sleeper. (They show accidents during orientation, what the driver was doing or what the other vehicle did to cause the accident/incident)

I’ve hit pot holes, swerved to avoid pot holes, hard braked etc. Everything that’s supposed to turn the camera on and nada.

Everything is about saving money. I’m sure the cameras lowered the insurance rates which in the GRAND scheme of things saved pennies that allow IWX to pay a higher cpm wage.

That being said, why why why don’t we have backup cameras on the trailers? Most accidents happen while backing. The tractors are setup like a video game, camera on the left, camera on the right. I saw some trucks that didn’t even have mirrors. It would be nice to be able to see the blind side while backing. I’d bet it would save a lot of mirrors.

Oh I do that too. If I’m not sure I walk over and take a look. Better safe than stupid.
