It really depends on the account you are working on. I get .36cpm but the guys across the street(literally) get .42cpm because of their contract. When working at this local gig you really have to look at everything involved, not just the cpm.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK ! THERE ARE MAY GOODS IN THIS COUNTRY IN SO CALLED WHEEL STORAGE- BOX STORAGE ETC.

YOU CAN MOVE A 53 ' RAIL PIG FROM HOU TO LA FOR UNDER $300 , SO IF IT'S FULL OF DOLLS FOR XMAS........ AND A CARRIER DON'T CARE IF YOU EAT OR NOT. IT'S ABOUT HIS FREIGHT FROM A TO B THE CHEAPEST WAY POSSIBLE.

JB, SCHNEIDER AND SEVERAL OTHERS FREQUENTLY SHIP THEIR LOADED TRAILERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY BY RAIL FOR LESS THAN A DRIVERS DAILY WAGE. THE PAYOUT IS SEVERAL FOLD WHEREAS HE GETS HIS TRAILERS MOVED CHEAP, IT'S FULL OF DOLLS FOR WALMARTS XMAS RUSH AND HE COLLECTS STORAGE CHARGES FOR THE GOODS INSIDE. ONCE THE TRL. IS MTY, HE HAS HIS EQ, REPOSITIONED AT A PROFIT AND READY TO GO.

OH, AND IT DON'T TAKE 3 MONTHS FOR THE CHOO CHOO EITHER, WORST ONE WAY TIME I EVER HEARD WAS 30 DAYS. THE USUAL SUSPECTS IN A RAIL MOVEMENT ARE THEFT AND DAMAGE BY RAIL HANDLERS. :biggrin_255:

As I said before, I started at jb in Nov 06, my rate with 3 months experience was 42cpm the day I got into my own truck! Then on my 1 yr anniversary I went up to 43 cpm. I drove out of the Wayne, Mi terminal... I don't know where you were out of, or who your fm was, but mine was just as driven as competitive as I was, so I worked many many weeks my maximum amount of hours! So, it is true, people really did make good money there, cuz I was one of them! Stay safe out there!

OK, don't have time to read the 13 pages of responses (And not wanting to make this a JB Suxs post) but a couple reasons why they have dropped and will continue to drop in this business.

    1. I believe they call them Safety Managers and not Driver Managers because that is all they do. They do not find loads or get any type of compensation for the driver being profitable. Just safe. Not against the safety part but a driver needs to have that direct contact with a person that has an interest in them making money. (this is why I would never drive for them).

    2. What you do during the bad times says more about you than treating someone great when things are booming. And JB failed on this the past couple of years. A great example: the lease purchase program (and true purchase as you can own you tractor at the end) had many drivers getting less than 2,000 miles a week. They did not have the miles or the paying loads to keep them moving or making money. And yet they kept bringing new LP's on to have them fail. Other companies parked the trucks. Not JB

    REALLY?
    Recent News
On July 15, JB Hunt reported financial results for the second quarter. The company had revenue of $943 million up 22% year-over-year. JBHT earned $0.40 per share, an increase of 74% compared to the year-ago quarter. Its second-quarter earnings topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4 cents, or 11.1%.
President and CEO Kirk Thompson said, “Demand for transportation services has increased fairly dramatically as we have emerged from a multi-year freight recession.”
Since September 2009, JBHT shares have been trading in a range from about $32 to $38. Its stock is currently in the middle of that range. Still, JBHT shares are above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, which is bullish.

Any company with idling trucks will see an increase over last year. If you stop and talk to shippers you will see they are meeting contractual obligations and not adding to them. This is what will make a difference when things level out.

Not that I think they will go out of business but they cut a lot of company drivers and many that lasted will be looking for greenpastures. This has a long term effect on profits.

There is sure a lot of big talk about money at JBH on here, but most of it is BS.

2400 miles on average is BS and has been for the last 5 years, and no one even mentions the mileage drop if you accumulate log points.

Everything is tracked there, not just receipts - the log is satellite tracked just like Werner, though no e-logs yet.

45cpm drivers - regardless of service were dropped as low as 30cpm overnight - yet they continued to fill orientations.

Most trucks run at about 61 on incline - so 600 mile daily averages is just more BS.

The DM's with "names" in their Quallcom titles have production quotas, and run multiple boards - the ones with any real authority - the JOPR-XXXX DM's are just glorified assistants.

Banking hours company, what you see on Friday's PP (B4 16:30) is what you get for the weekend. many - many- many - sunday resets away from home.

Skimpy home time in general - two weeks for a 34 hr.

Atlanta inter-modal guys complaining about $500 take home for full 70 over 6 days - 34 reset on weekends.

People don't come to JBH to "make big money" - they go to make a simple living.

yeah, I wanted to do something dedicated so I could get a better cpm. I talked to a lot of intermodal drivers and they all seemed happy.
