I drove for JB Hunt for two yrs, signed on at .42 cpm, with only 3 months experience back in Nov 06. I loved JB, I worked hard & my FM worked just as hard! The rate is area specific, I live in MI, guessing the original poster does as well, or near. He is right, his statements are true. JB is a great company, I averaged between 2000-2400, but both my fm n I weren't happy with just average numbers, he wanted to be the best and so do I!!!

I agree. My hubby has been averaging about $650 take home which is plenty for us (a family of three). When you don't have a perfect record you live with what you can get, especially in this economy. How much money you have shouldn't determine how happy you are , how you live your life should.

JB Hunt has a history of blackballing people with their DAC report. I know a lady who was given a preventable accident because she had both headlights blow out due to an electrical snafu. She called for a tow truck, rather than sit in a dangerous section of road to wait for a mechanic. Management didn't like her because she was so nitpicky about safety, and ran her out of trucking with stupid, minor write ups reported to DAC that made her unhirable anywhere else. No thanks to your "new business model" JB. It still keeps trurnover high, wages low, and the drivers screwed.

If I were a woman I would move to Australia and be a prostitute before I would drive a truck for JB hunt or any similar company. The pay and work conditions are excellent and it is legal.

Any trucking company that hires students or little experience is a warning of poor driver retention. Poor retention means the drivers are not happy. Maybe a few are with their dedicated runs.

Any trucking company that uses rail yards is robbing drivers of a job.

Don't get me wrong. I like having JB Hunt around. It offers alot of amusement to the industry. Just last week I watched one JB Hunt driver try to speed behind another JB Hunt driver backing into a parking spot and he took his hood off. Then they yelled at each other. Quite amusing :)

what is a dangerous section of road? why would you call a tow truck for blown headlights?

are you really telling me she couldnt have somehow gotten to a ramp to park? I carry a flashlight in my truck.....

I carry two spare headlights in my truck all the time...but if I had an electrical problem that blew the replacements I would find a place to park real close by until daylight...a tow truck seems just stupid though. Driving using a flashlight to see is asking to kill somebody.

I won't flog you for your comments. But I will point out...that you will soon learn why you would call a tow truck or at the very least a service truck for a blown headlight. Especially if you don't have a spare.

I agree with the ramp comment. But what if there is no ramp ??

Under the new rules, CSA. If you're driving and get pulled over and tagged for that light.... them is points. Points you don't need.

My side box will once again become the home of a simple parts house/service bay.

Speaking to a service driver the other day, this guy was literally drooling over the fact that CSA was about to kick in....with it's extreme set of rules. He is about to double, if not triple his service calls. His words...not mine.

I dont see why youd call a tow truck for a blown headlight. There is no section of highway that dangerous to waste $500+ on nonsense.

The flashlight comment was simply to get off the road. If theres no ramp theres no ramp. if theres one nearby, a flashlight will help.

i remember one time i was a kid i drove home with my dad in a daycab with no headlights for about an hour drive...just using the clearance lights on the cab..haha. i definitely wouldnt pull THAT....
