Goal, look for conditions in the lot. Assume everything was ice.

Someone with less than 1 year of experience isn't going to know more than a safety manager who likely has 15+ years in the industry. Please, get the "I know more than my safety department" mentality out of your head. You're a greenhorn.

That being said, it's very possible to jacknife going forward. It's a jacknife when the trailer meets the side of the cab.

Doesn't even have to be bad conditions to crunch the rear fairings against the trailer. If you keep turning as tight as you can moving forward you will make contact eventually.

It's pretty easy with a tight turning truck. In your defense, there could have been a patch of ice or a polish from someone spinning that you slid on, but you still need to be aware that these things can happen.

    Watch the mirrors.

I don't believe the parking lot conditions had anything to do with the jack knife. He didn't speak about the the wheels losing traction. All he said is he was turning and a crunch. He took the turn to tight and that's what happens. Make sure you have more room to turn next time. I know I had my fair share of crunches. None were ever put on my record. Learn from your mistake and be extra careful next time.

I guess it was a tractor jack knife instead of a trailer jack knife. On the road or in the customers lot you need to know what you are driving on. Take it as a lesson learned. Not the easy thing to do, but , arguing with safety with not much seat time is not good for your future.

What I meant was in a yard or similar doing a 180 degree turn (not 360) while pulling forward at walking pace. While training I routinely did this maneuver at full lock on the tractor without causing any panic on the part of the trainer.
