I spoke with recruiters. They want you to find your own parking on hometime and they do not pay for parking so pretty much you’re on your own as a company driver. Which to me is pretty sad since I have worked for European companies out of Chicago that even covered their company truck parking. So a company being that cheap tells me that isn’t a company that will go out to pay me properly either.

I work for Jacko. I actually and genuinely love this company. This post is old, but maybe it can help someone in the future. I need to preface this with a few caviats because my experience is unique to me. I spend 5-7 months in the truck and take 2-5 weeks off at a time (This is what I wanted)

1-2. Company culture is great for me. My DM is amazing and works with me perfectly. We have become an amazing team because he really learned how I drive and puts some serious work into keeping me moving. Rest of the staff is amazing and you can reaxh out to company owners whenever you want - they seriously care about their drivers.

1-4. Pay for OTR is cpm. I was hired on at .66 and I know drivers that got a raise when they asked. They say the requirement for raises is 12,000 miles a month for 3 months (easily doable)
I don‘t know anything about insurance. I don‘t pay for it.
Payday is every Friday. They never miss a week at all. Pay fluctates in the sense of if you drop a 1,200 mile load on monday vs. sunday (sunday is last day of pay cycle) so that might be the difference between a 4,100 mile week or a 3,200 mile week, but it all evens out at the end of the month. I average $2,200-$2,800 a week. Big checks are $3,300 a week (because of what I just described)

1-3. Trucks are new volvo 760‘s or freightliner cascadias, they let you choose. You keep your truck for short home times, but because I take big chunks of time off I turn my truck in and get a different one each time. I‘ve had 3 trucks, all brand new volvos right off the lot. A coworker is driving a truck with 430,000 miles (its his baby and he loves that truck and doesn‘t want to give it up) and thats the oldest truck I‘ve seen at this company.
Maintenance is fine I guess. Never had any major issues. If you are unlucky you‘ll get a call from maintenance and they‘ll say, „this trailer you have needs a DOT inspection can you stop at loves and get that done?“ however if you got a tight load or a plan that can‘t spare an hour you can tell them no.

1-3. I am the worst person to ask about home time. Like I said I stay in the truck for 5-7 months with no time off. However when I do go on my trips I send my DM my plane ticket details (I travel) and I tell him „I need to park the truck at this time. I‘ll return and be ready to drive at this time“ and I am always in the yard when I needed to be. I don‘t care about holidays so I work them, however last Thanksgiving and Christmas it seemed like I was the only Jacko on the road so I am sure many drivers take that time off.

1-3. We haul Pepsi/Quaker stuff, big paper rolls from paper mills, Redbull, Purina, stuff like that. We only drive western 11 and you won‘t be put on a „deficated route“ or anything, but you will get used to what loads come from where and you can pretty much guess what you‘ll be doing with great accuracy. For example, pickup in Tacoma, deliver in Spokane, deadhead to Lewiston, drive to SoCal. You will notice patterns. Loads are assigned, they are what they are. I don‘t know why someone would not want a load though. Miles are miles.

1-3. I don‘t know what forced dispatch is. A load shows up, I get it done. I can‘t help you there, sorry.
I do think they have a program to help you become an O/O and Jacko just bought a smaller company that has lowboy trailers and they haul glass sheets. So you could transition into that if you wanted to.
They don‘t play with HoS. Just follow the rules and there is no issue. I still get 3,700 miles average following HoS

    1. They give you a fuel card (we only fuel up at specific Flying J/Pilots. It was weird for me at first, but I got used to it) and they send out fuel price list everyday for the next day and they like if you plan your fuel stops in the cheapest way possible. It is suuuuper easy and it is a fun little game to play. If you are in the top 10 for lowest average fuel cost for the month you get $200 and 11-20 gets $100.
They give a 10% discount at a hotel chain, but I can‘t remember which one.
No idea on legal assistance, sorry.

    overall:
This is my favorite company in the world. They provide everything I need and want. High pay, high miles, good equipment, good loads, good DMs (mine is the best I think. I‘ve heard stories of other DMs and its not so good), all the staff is mega friendly and works with you well.
I have one complaint - after hours dispatch is 99% useless. Sometimes impossible to get a hold of because it is only 1 person. Almost everytime you have an issue the resolution will be „wait till morning to have your DM fix it“ so the fix to this is get your DM to set you up before they leave the office and before the weekend and everything will be fine. I run really hard and my DM will often answer my texts or calls in the middle of the night while he is asleep and get me set straight.
Other than that I love this company. They just bought a ton of brand new trucks and trailers so equipment is good akd I have nothing more to complain about.
10/10 company. Highly highly highly recommend.
