Not sure I understand your question.
Are you asking if you have to change the jake brake,? Change , as in replace?

Iam talking for replace the jake brake yes or no

I am not 100% certain, but i believe there is some adjustments that can be made.
I do not think they "replace" them. at least we never have, -

he was asking if he should replace the jake (engine retarder) when he replaces his service brakes....
answer is no.. jakes are a part of the engine and not a part of the braking system.. if you were to replace your jakes it will most likely happen when you do an inframe (overhaul/rebuild) but you dont need to replace them everytime you do the brakes on your wheels.gerardo1961 Thanks this. -
Hey ya'll. I haven't found a thread about this yet so I thought I'd ask. If there is a thread about it, please redirect me to it.
Ok, this is what I know about jake brakes so far.. you're supposed to use them on a grade as your main source of slowing down instead of your brakes and I've heard it's illegal to use them in high population areas. But I hear them being used out on the interstate alot. So my question is, how do you guys use them? Do you run them all the time to save your brakes? And if you do, would that cause any extra wear on the engine?JustSonny Thanks this.
