well i just went out to pull off the valve covers on my CAT...
well what i did notice is i still have power getting to solenoids thats #1
the jake brake section on the front of engine says REAR housing and the rear one says FRONT housing so someone who was in here before but these backwards.
now on the amount of threads showing on the top parts of the jake brake adjustment they are between 2-4 threads?
whats my issue, i am going to turn truck on now with covers off to see what happens when i push down on solenoid while its running to see if oil comes out.
jake brake question????

another question i have can i pull these off the top of the motor to have someone look at them off the truck or maybe service them myself?

You can get a kit for it, make sure it's the right one for youre model. Press on the top of the solenoids with a screwdriver to see if the are engaging. The feet that presses on the valve should move slightly. If that happens I'd say change them back, and do the proper settings.

well i just came in front adjusting brakes while running and i tightened them down till they made contact with valve engine stumbled a lil then backed them off 1/4 TURN they where all on point a 1/4 TURN behind making contact.
So will this no mean that with power going to jakes, i physically see solenoids depress down when power goes to them, and now checked jake brake lash and they are dead on. this leads me to believe that the jakes have problems internally.
if water was run thru system due to a bad oil cooler on my engine a while back would this have clogged up or crud up the inner part of jakes? engine was throughly cleaned and blown thru with diesel from top of engine down when oil cooler was fixed but it had sat a little whiles with water in system before i got oil cooler repaired.
can i just pull both these assmblys off the top off the engine without having to do anything or cover anything on top of engine and continue to drive truck like it was before? -
what do you mean by change them back? -

No don't take them off all together just swap them back where they belong (front on front and rear on rear), and replace O-rings on oil supply. Torque big nuts to 100 ft.lbs and the small ones to 50 ft. lbs., if they still don't work just don't worry about them, you don't really need them in Fla.
Worthken Thanks this. -

Most Cat jacobs will give me action when I red line it at stage three and on and let off the hammer fast. She will kick the jacobs in.
If there is a problem its along the lines what has been talked about here in this thread so far.
