I'm having problems with the jakes on my 04 w900 with a isx. I have stage one and 2 but not three i replaced the solenoid this weekend with no change. Today they hooked up a the dealer and said that we are getting power to the jakes and all looks good but they said we are gettting a code from our wastegate on the turbo is there any connection between the turbo and jakes? they want me to put on a new turbo and egr valve but im thinking its something else. Any suggestions would be great!!

I'll try and help ya.
How much boost do you have with jake on 3? The harder I push the jake, the more boost I get. In a 05 ISX. Really helps to get a good overhead done too. -
The Vgt turbo is actuated to close the vanes more for the third stage so it is possible that it could be the turbo.

CM870s and newer use the VGT turbo for your stage three brake level. The turbo vanes will close and create some exhaust back pressure acting like an exhaust brake. The different levels you select with your switch also doesn't dictate what solenoids come on, the ECM senses the current operating conditions and selects what it thinks is best. If you physically can't feel any difference between levels they may be right with a turbo problem.

+1 ^ what he said

Have you lost stage 3 quite suddenly, or over a period of time. I have a '00 ISX that lost stage 3 jakes slowly. Ended up replacing the cams as they had cavitated.

We found a code for a faulty crank sensor and when we replaced it they came back but still have a little falter at times so I'm going to replace the harness due to the fact that it looks pretty ratty. Will let you know what we find. The turbo is still running strong so I'm thinking maybe the shop jumped the gun little bit on that one! good thing i was a bit skeptical

How does it have three stages anyway it only has 2 jake solinoids instead of three I always wandered about that.

One solenoid will control 4 brakes, and the second does 2 on the older engines.
PROSTREET80 Thanks this.
