I noticed a company the other day that had a semi-retired schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Maybe that would be a good option for you jessc?

Hey bigtoad - that sounds incredible
can you pm me the company please?
Thanks for the heads up -
If you are looking for a retiree job try those companies that shuttle cars around for like rental car companies or dealerships. Would save a lot of money that you would have to put forth to get your CDL A at a school. Those people actually look for people in your position. If you are dead-set on driving a big truck, maybe look into truck repo or shuttling the new trucks. Companies hire you on and fly you around the country picking up the repo's or new trucks. Usually a more part time gig.
Most of the companies out there that are over the road will let you take a week or so max but after a month they strip your benefits and make you go through orientation again. Would be a real pain in the butt if you don't have experience too!
Like Gitmo was saying, I think you need to dig down deep and decide if trucking is really for you. There is a lot more to it then just driving. Its a lifestyle before its a job!jessc Thanks this. -
Thanks chompi those sound like what I'm looking for also - do you know of any companies I can contact that offer those types of positions or where I can find a list of them?
Actually the part time gig sounds perfect and exactly what would suit me.
