I run chi intermodal for a tad over a yr now. I live down in ky. They pay dh miles home. I do not weigh many loads. Especially the ones you drop on the rail as long as it don't cross a scale on the other end. And most scales down i65 are closed so why weigh it? I run alot of lou ky to chi back down. I touch Iowa every mow and then and also mi once and a while. The extra pay is gone but I'm paid .42cpm and 15$hr det after 1.5hrs and 15$hr breakdown immediately and if you have to layover due to truck then it's 75 layover on top of that. If you set your eta correctly then you will never sit for a load. Never. Unless it's a holiday but your paid to wait. I avg 2600+mi every week. It's now first week of may and as of last week I'm at 20gs ytd. If you run you will get miles and never sit. I'm like the rest of you I'd said I'd never work for jb hunt. Good money good home time trucks are taken care of just slow. I never ask to go home. I'm automatically sent on my due home day and in over a yr I've never missed it once.

Do they let you take passengers with running intermodal?

Fyi- I currently work DCS for JB and want everyone to know their
policy on hiring and local information. Does the recruiters lie? Sometimes. Put your big boy
    pants
on and do your research first. The third day of orientation you should be on a conference
call with your manager and go thru all the details. Why is this so hard to do. You are
not in third grade and need mommy to ask for you. Btw, I am also a trainer and have
seen some 20 year veterans who made me nervous in the passenger seat. The 6 month
rule is because they need to hire locally and the driver pool might be shallow. I
have found that they have miles if you want them but some guys only want to work ten
    hours a day.

Well I've heard mixed things from JB hunt drivers so I'm not going to say any good/bad about the company since I never worked there.

pretty much the recruiter will tell you what you want to hear. Every company has its BS and goods. I am a line driver at YRC, yes there's so much rules, changes, lies, BS etc. but during these tough times employers can get away with it. There are times I get fed up and want to leave but then say to myself where will I work. And make the same pay I'm making now. Just got to deal with it all and if something better comes along then take it

as a current jbhunt driver that runs memphis intermodal for almost 7yrs i love it.yea the recuiter lied to me also but i had the common sense to get a dispatcher's number and call and talk to a dispatcher and learn a little more about the operations. im off weekends,go home friday night back out monday morning, new hires dont get sat and sun off i was there 8 months before i got wekends off.most days ill get 500+ miles no problem.this is the 1st company that has ever paid me for my truck being down, others have figured out a way to screw you out of it. as for passengers most rails have a no passenger policy so jbhunt goes along with the rails and says no. I usually get a new truck ever couple of years, the last 2 ive had i was the only person to drive them besides getting moved into the shop for maintance.most of the equipment it getting upgraded, new chassis and new containers are nice, till a dray carrier steals/swaps out the tires. its funny to me hearing people talking bad about a company, then finding out they've never worked for them.

About 8 months to move to Sat Sun off is what the recruiter told me to. I think with the passengers he might just have it wrong because I guess JB Hunt always them for some of their other runs. I have boys that would love to ride with me. that's why I asked. I ran intermodal for 10yrs (not for JB) and I use to take passengers from time to time, rail was ok with it as along as they stayed in the truck but that has probly changed.
