Lots of new / newer , decent looking JB units on the road, you just have not been EVERYPLACE all at one time.

Seriously folks, this is not rocket science here. Do the MATH! x + y = z!

If z is not paying your bills then live within your means or pick a different career.

I talked to a guy the other day who worked for Transport America out of Atlanta. He said he was not getting miles but knew a guy making money OTR for Atlanta Intermodal. He asked me what I thought. I told him that I knew someone working local intermodal out of there home daily grossing 1,000.00 a week. OTR might not be best but it seems the local stuff works out well. It's just a matter of figuring out what you want to do and just do it. I am home every night but I work my 70 almost every week. Some days suck, some rock, that's trucking.

As for equipment, my account has about 50 trucks (mostly daycabs). We received about 15 new cascadia's in 2010 and just got in about 10 new pro stars in 2011. I happen to like the older broke in Century class myself but I'll drive anything that is safe and clean.

My advice to you is to ask local drivers at the truck stop and rest area and get a better opinion about the specific account you want to work for and stop listening to all the school girls and wanna bees on here.

$1000wk?? Maybe as owner operator but then taxes have to come out of that. I can't see anyone running intermodal staying in a major city grossing $1000wk as a company driver, I just don't beileve it.

I suppose if I posted my paychecks to show you 4 weeks in a row that I grossed well over $1000/wk you wouldn't believe that either. By the way 1000 is a 5 day workweek home every night. If I volunteer to work Saturday it's more like 1200-1300. Not bragging or blowing smoke but that is the reality of intermodal where I work.

I believe him. My account paid me from 880 to 1120 per week. Most days were less than 8 hrs, some were 10's. If I worked 10's was doing more, so made more. Was never forced to work weekends. Home every night. I guess I'm too immature and spoiled to not appreciate JB Hunt for all its goodness. Could have been a great job, if JB wasnt the accounts service provider.

My second month of employment I recieved DCS driver of the month for the region, then recieved DCS driver for the quarter for the western region. I was not someones target, was never written up, I did well there.

Maybe the origional poster will be sent to orientation, get through to intermodal or a DCS account and not be baited and switched (like half the guys in my South Gate orientation class that made it through) and get sent to starve on regional or otr.

My advice is still the same to the op, if JB is the only way he sees an out ... use them, they will use you. Otherwise find something else.

They have many problems, and certainly not the best or worst - just another corporate mega carrier.

If you need to have decisions made for you, then you should go with them - since you will usually be treated as a child there anyway.

    MM71 Thanks this.

You do realize that both carriers you named have Zero interventions right now on there SMS? They may suck to work for but at the moment reckless drivers is somewhat inaccurate. Just saying.
