How would they enforce mandatory e log when a lot of rail drivers work off the 100 air mile radius and don't keep any log ?

    Dominick253 Thanks this.

100 Air Mile Radius Driver's Exemption Logbooks are for driver's who drive within a 100 Air Mile Radius. The term "Air Mile" is defined internationally as a "Nautical Mile". A "Nautical Mile" is equivalent to 6,076 feet (1,852 meters). 100 Air Miles are equivalent to 115.08 Statute Miles (185.2 KM).

Simply said, they are basically designed for CDL drivers who normally would not travel outside of a 100 air-mile radius and also for and non-CDL drivers who would not normally travel outside of a 150 air-mile radius from their home terminal.

umm its complicated because every major company requires elog and they wont just have some trucks without elogs just for it.. as a owner operator its a double edge sword. while most of my miles are within the 115 statute miles the moment I cross that line I'm fair game for DOT and the last thing I want to year is

Officer: your paperwork says that you picked up in jersey city,nj and your load is going to vineland that's 118 miles. please step out of the truck. you are outside the 100 air mile radius exemption

I did intermodal in FL for 8 months when I first bought my truck.. Biggest check was $1800 only Averaged $600-$800 a week. I managed to survive to see way sunnier days thankfully.

    WARNING!!! PURE SPECULATION AHEAD!!!!

There's no way O/O can survive on ELOGS without:

    A. Daycabs going into the rail yards and pre pulling the loads
    B. 1hr free for load/unload, $100+ per hour for detention
    C. Doubling the line haul rates

This won't happen all at once, however, it will HAVE to happen.

Numbers are numbers, they don't lie.
