I was aware of the "breakaway" feature. I suppose that hitting a "stationary object" was the closest thing to file this under...sucks either way...

Were you fired? You aren't really clear on that, unless I missed something.
-
C'mon, folks- 33 years of dodging motorists, low bridges and all manner of hazards. So did this happen at Jubitz?
Maybe, maybe not. Remember, JB has a lot of trucks. I would still feel safe in the jump seat with this driver, cut the man a little slack? -
passingthru69 : You seem to know more about the situation, then I do. You have a right to your opinion, That's why I posted, to get feed back. I don't understand tho how you or anyone can justify "hitting" anything, much less "hit and run". AND, the main cause of this was was failure to move what JB and others call a "stationary object", Right! I didn't get fired, suspended or even probation, just a huge wake up call. I left the tractor on the fuel Island to sign for the fuel because of paving going on and didn't do another walk around afterwards. I was afraid the tractor trailer on my left, pump 5 might hit me trying to leave if I pulled forward like I usually do. I washed my side windows and mirrors, did my post trip on the fuel Island after fueling ( 2 miles from the terminal). The fuel hoses are in the way if you try to clean mirrors while fueling. I think I was set up, but have no evidence and I still have the problem of no walk around before moving, or proper post trip at the terminal. I never said anywhere I was Innocent. I just think this this should be classified as a "incident with the pump, not an accident with the tractor.
Hammer166 Thanks this. -
Well these mega co's don't care. I've had a co put on my Dax report a...
Non-contact non-preventable accident. -
I think I was set up, but have no evidence
Hold on...a little clarity please..... are you saying that you holstered the nozzle and while you were paying someone stuck it back in your tank? -
The official definition of an accident as relayed to me by Mr. Safety:
"Anytime any part of your truck comes in contact with anything other than the road surface."
Naturally that got him ######ole of the month and a strong shot at the quarterly bonus round. -
I have pulled away from pump with hose in tank twice.
First time, about 15 years ago, cost my insurance company about 450 bucks.
The truck stop manager said it happens about once a week. Second time i took the nozzle back into fuel desk, they said thanks for returning it, most drivers keep it. No problem with them repairing it,no charge. I said thank you, see ya'll next trip
.

Well how about asking Mr. Safety how to fuel a truck WITHOUT the truck coming in contact with the nozzle, AND what good is a tractor if the fifth wheel the never contacts a trailer???
-
Only problem I see after the DAC hit will be the log book. Did you do your post trip inspection in the book and not in real life? If you had done the real thing you would have seen the nozzle sticking in the tank. and maybe gotten it back to the fuel stop and stopped any call to the yard.
mtnMoma Thanks this.
