Out of curiosity, does anyone know how the local JB hunt drivers based out of the South Gate, CA terminal are paid? I seen some local intemodal jb hunt drivers while I was vacationing in LA. I'm a local driver out of the terminal in Memphis, TN and JB hunt pays us 30 cent per mile, $21.50 for drop and hook, $34.00 for live load/unload and $14.00 an hour for detention pay.

Been a few years since I was a driver out of there but I believe its .37 mile 24.25 drop and hook and 40.25 live 15.00 for detention after 1.5 hrs

I was also an fm and the highest paid drivers would gross about 1200 a week but id say the overall driver average is 800 gross. If youre thinking of moving out here, thats not enough.

How much income should someone gross weekly after taxes to live comfortable in the LA area and not pay check to pay check.

It all depends. Too many variables. Youre going to spend a minimum of around 1500 for renting a one bedroom apt and thats in the ghetto or near it at least. Just to rent a room in someones house is around 700 to 1,000

gas is near 3.00 a gallon and will get higher for summer. We pay the most in taxes in ca.

If its just you and you have no bills 50k will have you living pay check to pay check.

My buddy recents a 3 bedroom townhouse in orange county (decent middle class area) for 3k a month so do the math.

No disrespect to anyone but all the drivers at southgate are probably living in the ghetto. I guarantee none of their neighbors are doctors or other white collar professionals. Same goes for 99.9 percent of truck drivers here in socal.

Born and raised in California and high high cost of living is no joke in CA , probably the most expensive area in America. Super expensive everything out there. Now that I live in the south I really see that plus the socialist communist way of thinking in politics out there is really bad and makes everything worse.
