I got tired of the calls so I took them up on it, just to see where it would go.
They couldn't hire me. I didn't have enough experience. They wanted a year (back then) and I had been an instructor at this school for about four years so I didn't have the 1 year OTR they needed in the last 3. So they quit calling....at last.
A few days later, US EXPRESS called and told me that I would have to go through a driving school to get a job there. Here I am one of the best instructors in Texas, and I have to go thru a school to get a job at US EXPRESS?.....they quit calling too. Hahaha.
So when I did need a job, I went down to my old buddy Pete Anderson at Tenco Transportation, got in his truck and took off for PA. Funny, nothing had changed, the pavement was still under the wheels, the radio still faded out between cities and the rest area toilets were still stainless steel in Arkansas. (bring your own TP though)
How many companies cheat themselves out of drivers with their stupid rules?

In most cases, not all, the insurence underwritters have a say in the rules. But then JB is in his own world...
-
Portlanddriver is correct. Insurance companies are the ones that are behind the unwritten "experience in the previous three years" rule.
I've been reading up on more of what is coming down the pike from insurers, and there are going t obe some VERY ticked off drivers in the next few months and years....
I plan to put together a post over the weekend...so look for it. -
Something should be done about their impracticle recruiting, I too fell for this crap, then the day after "O" was over was told, I did not have enough experience, right !!! nine years in the field, ended up taking a ###### illegal run just to make money to cover bills (See BOSCOE Express post), made 2 runs (Hard runs) to LA, w/pickups in Oxnard,Bakersfield, and Yuma befor ruturning home, I f I so much as see a "so Called" J B safety man, I think I will knock his socks off JUST BECAUSE I CAN, yES i AM PISSED TOO !! ended up going full circle, back to the slave works of HONDA OF AMERICA, where you might as well wear chains....and people wonder why their are so many pissed-off truckers

J.B.Hunt won't hire you unless you have 3 months experience.
-
Three months experience? Thought all you needed was to know how to drive a manual with JB..
