They will never ask. You can run a 1979 Mack 300 day cab for all they care. As long as you get the loads in on time all is good.
I am surprised that any O/O would even consider leasing onto someone that is going to do this. Getting authority is the easy part. It is finding the loads and keeping running at a profit that is hard. I have told many a leased drivers that I have talked to that this is a good step towards independence. Someone booking your loads, don't have to wait to be paid and all the extra expenses of getting own authority may add and extra $.05/mile but they can make $.20-.30/mile more. Kinda a nice stepping stone.volvodriver01, Nolelover61 and G/MAN Thank this. -
That sounds good, this other carrier that I was researching required 5yrs or newer. Also, $3,000 qualcomm escrow, 2million auto & liability, NO RATE GUARANTEE, no lumper fees, carrier pays for reefer fuel, min. $150k cargo ins, shall I go on......

And that's why you are the mann!!! I really think this would help my/our situation being a nice stepping stone. Leasing is not an option for us. (Would love too if we could though)
Good for new carriers just getting started. They also have allot of freight (teams), billing won't be an issue, and when we decide to get a trailer use them as a back up.volvodriver01 and BigBadBill Thank this. -
The company you are talking about. Was that a power only program? Deal with these power only programs is that you can pull their trailer for a couple weeks then go do you own thing and never go back. Putting in a qualcom seems more like a longer term deal.
And wondering, why can't you lease to someone? -
Yes sir. Prime Inc, the contract is in my lap as we speak. I kept it because my Pomeranians needs something to ishh on while I'm researching. lol
:
But seriously though it's for a year, and you can pull other freight but for a hefty price. You also have to get it approved first from what I've researched.
Wife has a COUPLE speeding
tickets on her MVR. All of them were personal vehicle related but they don't care.

Have you ever thought of using another company to help with extra loads in bad areas?
-
If you're talking to me, what company did you have in mind?
Most major carriers wants to be listed on your insurance. I refuse to list a major carrier on my ins. just to pull a few loads with them. -
I don't have a problem having other carriers listed. Doesn't cost me anything and it sure comes in handy!
Nolelover61 Thanks this. -
Is that for every insurance agency or just for yours b/c I thought it cost extra to add them on?
Also, is there a limit to how many you can have listed on your policy?
