Good God no, how can anyone think of hauling for $1.46 per mile is good. It sucks period.
No disrespect to the O/P however this is why we are in this mess in the first place. One of the main reasons we are in this mess is O/O taking cheap freight. O/O should be asking a minimum of $2.00/per mile + fuel surcharge.Aceit and zentrucking Thank this. -

I agree, but the reality of the current environment won't allow that rate on a consistent basis. There is quite a bit of $2/mile freight, but that usually includes the fsc. I would like to see freight rates follow a gallon of diesel fuel. If fuel costs $3/gallon, then the rate is $3/mile. It is simple and fair. Rates would go up from what they are today and wages could also go up. There would be no need for a fsc.Hanadarko Thanks this. -
I have decided to abandon the JB Hunt program idea.
After looking mainly at the excessive insurance requirements
and the fact that I have to bear the brunt of everything makes
this offer seem sweet only to JB......
If they come back with a reasonable price close to or over $2/mi I would reconsider.
Thanks for all the comments and input guys-scottied67 and rocknroll nik Thank this. -
...so your next step will be?....
