BTW- I actually did max my hours last week. It's not easy being a local truck driver. My paycheck was a little over 1400.00 gross. Not gonna be a millionare anytime soon but not gonna lose the wife/house anytime soon either. Be safe.

My Husaband just went through orientation and his biggest complaint their was the skimpy lunch on the 2nd day.... but he's a big lunch eater. Right now his biggest complaint is the lack of training on the qualcom and how often it buzzes at him. Different companies do things different way's and the way JB has it set up is vastly different from the way the last company he worked for had there computer log set up, but he IS running a paper log, just other things on the qualcom.

He hasn't formed an opinion on the company as a whole, as he said, " just because I hate this stupid {censored} machine, doesn't mean a thing". BTW I do all the "electronic" stuff at home and will on the road.

Yesterday and today I got to hear it about going to Chicago....and I really can't put down what he said about that. I just told him to reserve his opinion cause it might not be as bad as he thinks. Same thing with the company, any company, reserve your concrete opinion on it til you've "been their, done that and have the scars to prove it"

The day he picked up his truck he had no load out til the following day and lot's of drivers comming in and out of the yard. Different stories on if the driver liked the company or not... funny thing is only one of the drivers had less than 10 yrs with JB. 17 yr driver said he hated his job...well ask the right question and you find out it really isn't the company he hates ,but the fact that he just switched accounts from a really good one to a so/so account( to him) and wasn't really happy with the miles. But he hated his job and hated the company, to me it seems he didn't ask the right questions of ppl who were driving the "new" account and he should have known better. Another driver on the same account said that yeah it wasn't the greatest money maker, but was great for him as he was home every weekend. As that was important to him he loved the account. ( IDK which account as I got all that 2nd hand from my husband... I was putting all his stuff in the truck)

If you go into a new job, any new job, thinking that they told you the absolute truth you will be sadly disapointed. JMO

I guess the best thing to do is ask the other driver's who work at JB Hunt don't go for the glossy adds speak to the real deal if you see a JB Hunt driver at a truck stop go up and ask him then you'll get the real picture.

Ok, so I have been talking to a J B Hunt recruiter, was told some things but I was asking “recruiter”
    So here are my questions.
Do they pay the same mt & ld miles?
Do they pay to deadhead home?
Do they get you home on time?

Do they really have the next load ready by the time you make the del. On the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] load?
    E-logs or paper?
How are they on break down, how quick do they react?
Any thoughts in this area would be great.
    Thank you.

I have spoke with more shops that hate dealing with JBHUNT because they question their work and prices. It's like why send your driver here, you seem to know everything. In other words getting anything fixed on the road is like pulling teeth i've heard.

To be perfectly fair on the home time we live in Florida... and it can be harder to get in and out of than some other states. We knew that though and from this point on-ward I will be riding with him so it really won't matter and we told them that. Though they DID say that they like all drivers to take their home time at their home adress, he then asked his dispatcher how long it took for them to find him a load to FL.. and the guy got the point. Yes only a day and a half late, but they had been working on finding a load here for 4 days. ( had him cruiseing around tx for a day)

He's talked to quite a few drivers some like it some don't. I think that fit's just about every job I've had, some like it some don't. I worked for a Paramedic company that I ended up working 2 days on, 1 off and it was suposed to be 1 on 2 off, I hated that, but one of the guys I worked with loved all the over time. My family time was more important to me, as a single mother.

Same rate loaded, deadhead - lumpers no problem, some dedi accounts are better that others - on those unload may be required.
Home time is usually under a load. 34 hrs and roll.
They did have slip seat when I worked for them, with better home time - think they dropped that.
Home most Saturdays, preplanned in advance usually - with a "good" FM - some are not that good.
Prostars, elogs, "no idle" policy on newest units (with Cali tag) - very few EPU's.
CAUTION: advertise 43cpm, however "loops" as they call them pay much less. Loops are semi dedicated but pay up to 10cpm less.
Long waits on road service line sometimes, very good national accounts for most problems.
Depends where you live and what you need, some drivers are very happy - many are NOT. Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas areas seem to be best.
Do not lease unless you are a runner - not hearing many good things about JBH lease, Some current guys paid off some time ago when the contract was better.
