if they only hire 40 drivers a month,
that is less than 50% turnover !!!!!!!
which would be outstanding !!! -
Turned in my truck on Wednesday and flew home from Greeley. Tired of getting home 3-4 days late or 3-4 days early. They expected me to deliver all of my loads on time (which I did) but they couldn't get me home on time greater than 50% of the time (even with a 24 hr window). They did keep me moving most of the time and I still couldn't make any money. Back to work as a Labor Rep/organizer I go. Turned in my truck to the parts guy and the office didn't require me to see them before I left....odd at best. Enjoyed the times we ran into each other Doc. Good luck in your ventures. Jeff
DocRox and DocHoliday Thank this. -
If they only Hired 40 a Month,
The last 3 weeks it has been 35 per week in Orientation, that is 140 per month and at that rate they still have 30 trucks a week sitting without drivers.
This is from the JBS Management Email that went out and Somehow I got included oh boy....
But 140 Per month with 30 still sitting a week, that is a need of 65 drivers per week and with only 500 trucks on the OTR division that is ridiculous.
Of all the trucks you have to take into account Bull Haulers, Tankers, Now Container haulers, Dedicated.... Regional is bunched up with the OTR Folks so them numbers look real bad, 110% turnover.....
For every one person hired 1.5 quit...
Two weeks ago they had 74 drivers quit in one week.. They hired 32 new ones, that is a DIRECT REFLECTION OF OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT...rocknroll81, DocRox, Jarhed1964 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was told 70 trucks were abandoned last month. The number one reason for the increase, is the sleep apnea test. Even with insurance, the driver still has to shell out over $1500+. If the driver can't pay, he walks. If they're making $300-$400 a week, like me, can't blame them.

Oh, and for all you operations people snooping.... Communication between DMs & drivers is off the charts horrible. When you say use the Qualcomm for messages, and NEVER answer them.... Don't be surprised when you have a fuming driver leaving you 300 voicemail messages, since you don't answer your phone either. You send out a fleet message about setting your PTA, or sit 24hrs.... It's obvious you don't read them anyway by the dispatches sent out. God forbid we turn down a load cuz we don't have the hours, or you dispatched it 24-48 late, then you punish us with crap runs.
When you look at your fleet board, before you go home every night, remember YOU are responsible not only for the driver's livelihood, but his/her entire family depending on him/her.
This ain't a game, or a joke, despite your inter office conversations.

I was hired by JBS.. have a 2 weeks left of school, now getting worried about going with them.. I was told today that there is a wait list for orientation... Besides what I am reading.. not sure why so many quit...do I continue to hope that it will get better or just switch now? Any advice is appreciated.
