Yep, fuel. Buying it in California, Arizona, Utah.
And you need to find out your actual MPG. Saying that you get between 7.5 - 8.5 means that you don't know your actual MPG. I can get 9 MPG one trip and 7.5 the next. That doesn't translate to me getting between 7.5 - 9 MPG.

Yes, you will have to buy fuel in an expensive state, but you don't need to fill it up. Your fuel strategy is killing you BIG TIME

As far as Arizona is concerned if he's going to buy fuel there if he's on I-10 that's the place to buy it going to California and come back out and never touch California fuel and if need be having a feeling California put 50 gallons in to get back to Arizona

I'll take a look later today to see if I can see anything. With just a cursory look I'd say its fueling only because I saw CA fuel stops. Never buy in CA! The $100, $50 & $50 deductions were cash advances? So the check is roughly $880ish, right? It should definitely be over a $1,000

It wasn't. It was his trip from Reno to Salinas to Dallas. I-40 fuel will kill you. Much cheaper places in California. On that trip, he should of gotten as much as possible on US 287 between Amarillo and Dallas. You can save nearly 30¢/gallon

@Robbieking83 where do you normally buy fuel? Which brand of truck stop? And when do you buy fuel?

Now I'm gonna say this: I came across real hard and snappy at @Robbieking83 because if that post. But anyone that knows me, knows I like to help people. After several posts, his tune changed from slamming JCT to practically asking for help. If you truly want help, this is a great place to get some sound advise.

I would repeat my harness to anyone else that blames failure or short comings on anything other than themselves. It's kinda hard to fail here. Most of the guys that post regularly "Get it." They are successful, BUT they still seek advise because they all realize we can always improve. No one is perfect......even me. LMAO

If you truly want to learn, we're happy to help. There is NO SHAME not knowing something. Running a business is a daunting task, for anyone. The key is to get informed, learn from others, minimize your mistakes, swallow your pride and reach out when times are tough.

From what I could see it looks like if he cuts his fuel cost by about 300 to $400 a week and cuts out the cash advances he could just about double what he's bringing home

I sorta agree. Cash advances shouldn't matter. Get money now or next week. As long as you realize that you add that advance to net settlement to get a "true"amount.

I take my $150 every week, not because I need it, but because I take it and put it in 2 jars. One for the casino, one for the strip club. Mad money if you will. Never miss it from my settlement and when I stop someplace I have plenty to spend without hitting my bank account
