I always keep an eye on this thread. It is one of the more informative threads on this board. I have had many questions answered about JCT before I even asked them.

They are going to send you a post card with items you will need before you go, but it is all the usual stuff...ssn card, drivers license, etc...

Along with the paperwork side of it, they tell you to bring enough stuff for 2 weeks. If you are taking a bus to Sapulpa, they will charge you for any extra bags over 1. They are going to dispatch you after orientation ends on Thursday. YOU will have the option of leaving on Thursday night after you finish, or on Friday morning after 1 more night of rest. You are going to be asked if you need to go by the house on your first trip out, or if you are good to go into the system. If you want to go by the house to get your truck set up, they will do what they can to get you by there. If you have enough stuff to hit the road, they will do that. You will not have a truck payment for the first 4 weeks, so my advice is to hit the road and log as many miles as you can in that time. If you go to the house, you are losing money! But, that is just my 2 cents worth! I have been b y the house for a nights sleep 1 time in 3 weeks. That is just because I asked to be routed that way to get some clean clothes, and see the wife. Did a 12 hour stop there and back out. But that is enough for me. Not all want that. Some people need to see all their friends and have a family reunion!

Keep asking your recruiter if there is an opening earlier. She may keep telling you "no", but you might get lucky. Never hurts to ask!

Good luck, and let us know how you are progressing. I know Alan and LMB and Vulcan answered A LOT of questions for me before I left. Don't be afraid to ask!

alan.. how does the dropping of a trailer at a yard work. I have asked for an early delivery, but never got it approved. Does the dropping at a yard work differently? If you will send me a PM with your phone # I will call to discuss it with you, or you can just post it here. I can't PM you as I don't have enough posts here yet

As far as dropping a load it depends on what day of week it is and which drop yard you near. Dropyards we have (fortworth, phoenix, mira loma, lathrop, okc, and of course our terminal in sapulpa)
It also depends on how early you are and what loads are available outta there. Its not guaranteed you get to drop everytime. Hope this answers the question

well, put my app in. got a call first thing a.m. they were interested in my job of 5 years. but since it wasn't OTR. they would not process my app. that's as far as i got, DARN IT. :biggrin_25510: they want 12 months in last 3 years.

looks like i have no choice but to take a refresher course to get back in the game. be greatly appreciated for any ideas where i might go besides one school that i know of. and i'm really hoping for a better option.
