that was the thing i didn't like when i went to school. my class started with 40 people and only 5 were left standing when it came time to hit the road. half the people were out of work already and the other half had quit to try something different. 35 people got the can and had to find there own way home. i would think there are better ways to find qualified people over taking anyone that applies only turn send them back home. considering they paid for those people to come out in the first place. and the people that quit there jobs for nothing.

I don't know what recert she talking about either. The only reason they want the OTR experience to see if you're used to driving long distances. 600 plus miles a day.

well, i'm in a truck 11 hours a day. halfway thru day i stop for wee and lunch. 5 minutes. so i really don't see driving 600 miles being a problem. i've had days where i drive 500 miles and i've had days where i drive 15 miles. but i'm still in the truck. course i do have to get out every now and then to let the blood circulate in my arse. the truck i drive now don'thave the most comfortable seat. but the old truck i used to drive has one of the greatest seats around. i can catch a couple of zz's in that baby.

According to the FMCSR unabridged manual, 2007-2008, shown to me by multiple safety employees, (with the usual dissapperance of my notes on the exact rule/law/reg, hence not an exact quoted reply) the Department of Transportation changed the regulations pertaining to driving requirements. If a driver has been out of a Truck for more than 4mo, and has a passenger endorsement on his license, and has not driven a bus, he/she has to undergo retraining as tho the person has never been issued a license and/or the endorsement in the first place. If a driver with a commercial motor vehicle license who has not been behind the wheel for 6 mo or more (the exact time frame was on my vanishing notes), then the individual must undergo retraining as though the person had never been issued a license to operate a commercial motor vehicle in the first place. If a person is obtaining employment, in a position in which the individual has never worked, ie. flatbed, reefer, dryvan, hzmt, ect, then the individual must undergo training untill the individual has met all safety training requirements to safely operate the commercial motor vehicle as if the individual had never been issued a liscense, or until such a time as proficiency in operating the equipment safely has been met.

Why that is, I have no clue, and none of the "safety officers" could/would/or even try to, find out.

OTR haul is different than LTL/local, or regional, in that the safety requirement for operating the vehicle fall under different rules. Not only must one remain legal in all 48, irreguardless of state of current operation or licenses, the amount of time out and operational protocols are different as well. (which might explain the retraining, but without a definate printed and verified approved as cause in writing answer, don't quote me on it)makes as much sense as solely backing up to readjust ones self adjusting slack adjuster brakes....ummm, those things adjust simply because the pad depth shrinks...))

Sounds like you ran afoul of the incompatable compatable personality type. Those are worse than compatible compatible personalities. From what I had been told, and have yet in my whole life to actually see work, are 2 incompatible personalities operate together in anything ^.^ As for the showers every 3rd day, you and your team-mate were very lucky. Teams operating 80,000lbs and less, aren't allowed to stop, not even long enough to eat...it interferes in the delivery of team transported goods, and can cost a driver his/her job if the company so choses by claiming service failures...Team loads do not have windows, not even OTR Team run freight. For that matter, any company running true OTR's have pretty much done away with delivery windows...customers do not like having to wait for thier freight, irreguardless of actual freight shpping times.

As for the :biggrin_2556:S.E.X.:biggrin_2556: It does make one wonder ^.^:biggrin_2559:

Is JCT ok with you running by the book ? (aka Logbook)

....when i was with Marten... if you could not get it there it was politely suggested that

you find another line of work...there customers came first vs the driver logbook.

I went ahead and played along...and soon was able to find another job.
