Well keep your head up Snowwy. You will find something sooner or later!!! I hate to say it but you being out of SLC you might want to check Cr England. That would be my last choice. Im still waiting my self to hear from JCT. I've called a few times and nothing yet. Its a bummer I like the looks of this company!!
-
well, besides being team now, no solo acts. and from the looks of things. trainees are now getting two trainers. 3 people on a truck. and i've heard nothing but complalints with that company now. getting screwed on pay is one of them. i've seen threads of people saying they are taking 8 cents per diem. so your paying to live on the road on top of what your already paying to live on the road.
i'm a little leary of working for a big company though. specially with the lease crap being shoved down people. if you don't lease you can stay parked wherever y our at. cuz there's no work for company drivers. and not much for leasers either. and leasers are defenitly getting screwed with all the unnecassry fees. england being the worse.
then there's the problem with DAC. to which i think is illegal. but i'm not willing to be called a jack arse on my dac. and we all know that's what would happen working for a big company. no matter how nicely you try to quit. i went to school with england, and quickly bailed. i got lucky and my dac is still in good shape. i kinda want to keep it that way.
i have an idea for jct though. only problem being my skills are probably a little rusty in backing up a 53ft trailer with a full sized tractor. i don't want to waste my time just to flunk the backing test. who knows how many times i would have to pull forward before i finally get that sweet spot to line up with the dock. although i think i can do it in less then 5. i'm worried about hitting that imaginary wall on the blind side. even though the secret is to hug the other side you CAN see.
but lets keep that a secret.
i'm kinda leaning more towards o/o though. if i can figure out plan. it's not looking pretty to work for any company. specially with the industry getting flooded with newbies. jct seems to be the only thing going true these days. it would be nice to own my own truck and actually make some money. i'm getting tired of being told what to do so i can bring home a few peanuts. couple years ago the peanuts were large. but lately i've been going blind with my old age. the peanuts are so small i can't even see em anymore. -
Well, just got called back today from JCT recruiter. She said they were turning down my app. Said they wanted to see more job stability. Only worked for 3 different companies in the last 2 years, and given the atrocious nature of some of these companies, thought that was pretty fair. Now, I'm not knocking JCT by any means. The lady on the phone stated quite clearly that they were well booked up into Oct sometime for their orientations, and that because of that they were tightening up their qualifications/requirements. Just wish they'd put it on their website. Anyway, I still plan on contacting them in the future, since they seem to have the best lease/purchase program around... or maybe I'll just save and buy my own... we'll see how much I make where-ever I end up.

Hello Allenp613,
I do Not think that a company, any company is Obligated to hire anyone, what is at issue, and this is a Legal issue, is that no Business, irregardless of business, can refuse to hire an individual without a valid reason. No Business can refuse to put in writing, why hire was refused. JCT's employees have failed to provide the reason, Upon Written request. As previously stated, the matter is no longer an issue, the refusal, put in writing, to refuse to put in writing, why hire was refused, Has been turned over to those, whose business it is, to follow up on such disregards. It's that simple. And Yes, your Company is a Training Company. Has been for close to 3 yrs now. Have a nice day.

Hello Jarbo,
I realize that you were not trying to be rude. Was not upset at all ^.^ I do write rather stronger than I would notice at times. That said, if my last post, came across as such, it was not my intention for it to be so strongly worded. The only point I had tried to point out, is that I do not have the time, to waste my time, argueing with an office employee. If that offends you, perhaps a serious look at what has become the norm in all forms of the workplace, should take place. There are several educational, and informative sites pertaining to work laws, and workplace abuse. Osha comes to mind, so do several other sites. Just google for workplace abuse.
It is not the Business that I dislike. It is the disregard of the employment laws, committed by the original employee and those who know that individual, that has been the issue. The internet, and phone, can provide an autonomy in such a matter, that although one might have a name, it does not guarantee that the person one is typing/speaking with, is the individual whose name was used. Happens all the time, where interoffice politics, including bedroom politics become the normal operating procedure.
There were also the rumors that I had been told to, by JCT drivers, concerning the company, that I had also sought to clarify as to whether truth or rumor. With so many business's filing Bankruptcy, Restructuring, ect. it is NOT always in ones best interest to hire on, only to be laid off weeks, or months, down the road. It is counter productive to ones best interest.
As for the Business, when one actually looks at the lease purchase side, JCT, by far, next to WelCompanies, offers the better equipment, at affordable prices, with the guaranteed mileage to meet all obligations, plus be able to pay oneself. For those just starting out, without either the credit, or savings to take the time to actually perform a major working overhaul on the equipment to guarantee a minimum of 3-7 yrs on the clutch, 5-10 on the engine, ect. it is a good deal. There are probably a few other Business's who offer good lease purchase programs, and equipment, that although the outer wrapper may not be the greatest, it's the heart of the equipment that purrs like a high end well maintained antique race car ^.^ There are also Business's who are cash-strapped enough to take advantage of those contracted purchases, and use state laws to avoid responsibility when it comes to even the basic minimum standards for sale of used vehicles, which can be contrary to federal laws.
That said, simply skimming what a person writes, without actually reading what is writen, can also instigate situations simply due to "putting words" on a printed page.

Let me get this straight. you're upset that they did not give you a reason for not hiring you???? The last time I checked that was not illegal. They don't have to tell you a reason. Or simply if you wanted a reason your app was not a match for what they are seeking for. There are many companies out there that does not provide a reason for turning down your app. Some don't even respond to you. So making a big deal out of nothing is just nonsense.
Next I've been with this company for 4 years now. We do not have a training facility or school. We only hire experienced drivers with at least 12 months or more OTR experience. Please stop the misinformation. We are not stevens, swift, jb, schneider, etc. Those are training companies. Not JCT!!!! They may send a driver out with a senior driver if the new driver had less than 18 months OTR experience.
If you keep coming on this thread with misinformation pls go somewhere else for that. This thread is for prospect drivers looking for facts about the company!! -
LOL! So very true ^.^ Lets not forget Snake Valley, Loveless...err..Loveland Pass
aaahhhhh, so much fun to drive ^.^ Cann't remember the name of the nice jaunt around sw of Reno, heading parallel to I80 going to Donner's Pass, (It's not Suicide Road) that one is real curvy with some nice views ^.^ Lots of fun places to drive ^.^

(Sigh)
Again your post has nothing to do with JCT. The workplace abuse, and inner office memos you talk about have NOTHING to do with you. THEY DIDN'T HIRE YOU!!
Having a business of my own at home, I hire people that I WANT to hire. Some people don't even get a "thank you" for the application because they are not someone I want to represent my company. I don't have to tell them why, or write them a letter. In fact I can just tell them to get out of my store!!!! Its my option to hire them or not.
As far as selling a "used car" and the federal laws.... I'm sure JCT knows what their doing, they have sold/leased millions of dollars in trucks. I'm also sure at least one person has tried to take them to court and lost. This is a very successful company. They didn't do it by mistake.
PLEASE find else ware to post your personal opinions on subjects you know nothing about. Others, like myself, come here for information about JCT. That is the title of this thread. Its not your personal website to tell everyone how EVERY company has treated you bad and done so illegal...... I'm sorry your having a difficult time in life and again wish you well, but please allow us to stay on subject, if not at least a little closer.
Btw, irregardless is still not a word! Regardless of how many times you use it. -
I do wish to apologize to everyone else for being so forward. This is not my usual demeanor. I am just trying to stay on point.
