There was 1 prostar available, wanted it for the warranty, there was one husband wife team, they chose the prostar but we worked together knowing my wife is with me full time, if they said no to it I would have had it! Knowing resale values and original values I took my second choice a W-900, not much room but I'm very happy! :biggrin_25519:

    Congratz to everyone!

Better have your skillz honed in when you come to LA!!!

This place was built backwards and not for a 53'. I've had to blindside twice today.

    Thinkin' bout movin' to LA.

    NOT!!!!

I will get some pic's up on here as soon as I get a breather. I will let you know what I think so far...So far, so good! As I said before, it beats the W-900 by a LONG shot. I never did like that brick. It did not have room to change your mind in it. At least there is room to move in the Prostar. It does lack a little in the storage area, but still has more than the KW. 2 small airplane style cabinets, but it does have room under the bunk. I will also like the diesel heater this winter. It will help since I don't have an APU on it yet. Power seems to be on the same level as the KW. This one does have a Cummins, and it is running great. I will be considering the "test mode" on the EGR in the near future, for those of you that know what that is! The ride is almost on par with the Volvo I had before coming to JCT. There is a great view with the panoramic windshield, and it is very easy to see behind while backing up. It does feel as if you are in a cab over! You seem to be sitting on the front bumper, and it will turn on a dime. I do wish it had the air kingpin release.

As Alan said, all our trucks are spece'd pretty much the same, and it will crawl up the hills. I do wish it had a 13 speed that would allow you to split gears while pulling hills, but it will just take a little getting used to. I will let you know about fuel mileage after I get some more miles on it.

enough for now. I don't want to upset Jarbo! It is hard for him to stay on track for any amount of time! Take your nap-nap, and finish reading when you wake up, buddy![/quote]

So it sounds like the prostars are not the skyrise model with the higher roof and more cabinets that JCT is getting in. We currently are in a Freightliner Century which apparently has alot of cubbys and storage compared to a lot of other trucks if I am understanding this correctly. Hopefully there will be something that will work for us when we go for November 17th!

    Also... a few questions:

why do they make you wait to buy a APU? I would think that they would want ALL the trucks to have them to save $$$ right from the start?

Do all the trucks have the separate heaters? We currently have one.

Do the trucks come with refrigerators already in them or is it an option you can choose?

    Thanks,
    Dabs

Is anyone else have David for a DM. I'm getting crappy miles even though I ask him to run me. He just either doesn't respond or says he is going to talk to the planner. I have been here since July, have only been home 3 days and my miles are around 2700- 3100. If I am luck. Any advice what to tell him?

I don't know why JCT specs their trucks with the lower roofs but I know why WE did it. Weight savings! It's not much but the lower roof and shorter sleepers (63" instead of 70" on the Petes) saved several hundred pounds if I remember correctly. Of course we always ran heavy so we never had full tanks either.

Like I said they may have different reasons, but we spec'd to run as much weight as we could. Unless we knew we would be heavy, then we used to just fill it up and run around the scales. Shhhh... don't tell anyone. Dieselbear is on here and he can't wait to find me!

The reason is they want to make sure you are able to survive with jct for at least 90 days b4 they add one on a new trk. They don't see the reason to add one if ur not gonna last 90 days. The trks that have the separate heaters are the cascadia, and prostars. I don't know if the 386 have them. They might get some cascadias if john is able to get the deal with freightliner. That would be a trk with room for yall. Otherwise its left to the prostar or 386 or whatevers available at time of ur orientation.

The trks are pretty basic with no fridge. Hope I've answered ur questions :)
