I just wanted to say hello to all of the JCT drivers and friends. I have been reading the post to this thread and feel like JCT is a great company to work with. I say with because you are a L/O, O/O and are contracted to JCT if my understanding is correct. I am in the process of obtaining my CDL and am looking for a school or company that has training that will not take advantage of me ( I am trying to stay PC insert proper wording ) My plan is get my CDL get my one to one and half year of experience and then take a strong look at JCT. Any advice that any of you could offer would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.

By the way I am only on page 60 of all the posts

Do you have a cdl yet? I would reccomend stevens transport out of dallas or prime out of springfield mo. They have pretty good training program. Also if u don't like those two I would reccommend you finding a comp that runs reefer in case you do decide to come over to JCT after the year. Good Luck

I would agree with Alan, find a outfit that runs reefer if thats the line that you think you want to run. If you were going to a Dry Van, I would recommend Con-way Truckload for training. But if you think Reefers are your way to go, check out the threads for Prime and Prime training. Don't skimp on your schooling and training.

Lol maybe JCT is not for you. I just went $110,000 in debt for my truck.

But honestly, $4,500 to earn $50k (take home)+ a year is not bad

Okay what $4500 are you referring to?? If you're referring to the schooling, then yes it's $4500, you got for three weeks and you should get your cdl by the end of your three weeks. Then you commit to the company for 1 year to pay that $4500 off. Not so bad is it?? You don't pay that $4500 unless you quit before your 1 year is up.

I have been reading this since it started and I have read all of it at sometime during that time. What does JCT give for fuel discounts? I seen where someone posted that Loves gives .06 off pump price but di you get cost plus discounts also? I know when I was at Prime they got cost plus .025 or .055 off pump price whichever was better at Pilot and T/A. They did not use Flying J due to using Comdata though.

Love's is .03 off cash and TA .06 off cash..plus your fuel surcharge which currently is .25cpm for avg $23.79 a gallon lmao.. those of you that work here should know what im talking about.. I'm assuming Prime just calls it a discount instead of fuel surcharge.. basically our fuel price per gallon is capped at around 1.30 so if you get 6 mpg and getting your fuel at the DOE weekly avg price you are paying 1.30 a gallon.. The better your mpg the lower your cost per gallon will be..:biggrin_25514:

But some people want to start at the top.(just spooffing)
I had been out of trucking for 12 years, so I had to reaquire my CDL. I went to our local Community College, and spent a Whopping $675.00 for a five day a week, 10 week course. My wife with no driving experience did the same. I graduated first, and went to work for a local company that runs coast to coast reefer freight. When my wife graduated a month later, they let me be her trainer, and we run team. Good company, lousy money. After 1 year we applied to JCT, and here we are.
My point being, there are cheaper ways to get this done. My friend graduated and went to Trans-Am for a year, and is now driving for JCT.
Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington,NC has a great program, and I highly reccomend it(no I don't work part time for them)

I know i know mr know it all lol.. what if that person don't even have the 675?? hehe guess he/she's dream just went down the drain huh.. well LMB's option is a much cheaper way to go, if you have grants that's even better, but you can save the headache if you don't got the money out of pocket and go with the company school.. either way works, so if you don't have any driving experience might wanna go with a company that trains :biggrin_255:
