Exactly, Jarbo. Is it something the company is particularly concerned about? Do you think it's going to impact the industry as significantly as some say?

Yes its a seasonal thing. Its real bad over there during the winter. A lot of wrecks and often shut down. Its really pretty across there though when weather permits :)

Every company will be concerned on drivers that don't know how to log. I'm sure it will impact some but probably not too bad. JCT hasn't mentioned much to the drivers about it yet so we really don't know

A friend just got dispatched from LA to Denver, JCT paid him the extra miles to run up 15 to 80, across to Cheyene and down. I-90 is a no,no this time of year also

Our miles have indicated the extra miles around 70 as well... thought it was winter related. With CRE we avoided 90, but 70 was never off limits. We have no problem going around!

I believe he said they were going to pay him an extra 290 miles, don't hold me to that figure. I'll check with him in the AM

Well that's good to know. I always like knowing what the next move is. Helps for preplanning routes, fueling, etc. Is your dispatcher/DM usually pretty good about letting you know what your next reload is before you get unloaded?

Depends on where u r. In the meat patch areas (tx ok ar ne ia) most the time u will get a preplan. Its no big deal if you don't get one imo. You should plan ur fuel according to location and where ur going. Say if your current load goes into cali. Fuel up in az b4 entering. It takes time to get the hang of it. As far as routing doesn't matter if u had a preplan or not. U still gotta plan a route guess u just plan it earlier if u got one but no biggie once again. We have drivers that get upset if they don't get a preplan every single time. That just puts too much stress and tension between u and ur dm.

Oh yea! lol fuel in CA has always been a no no for me. My current dispatcher is notorious for booking team loads for a solo driver. And they have a bad habit of not telling you where you are delivering and appointment times until after you are loaded. I wouldn't expect a preplan everytime. But they sure are nice! Huh? lol

The preplan just tells you what city your going to load in and what city you deliver along with the times and dates for dash end. Then when u get empty you get the load info... They some times change, willcox has changed 4 times on me before from pheonix. The last change came as I drove thru the gate....

The best plan is to get to where your going asap then see what happens.
