Let me first start off by saying this will be a rant for me of epic proportion.

I do believe many trucking company owners should be prosecuted for if anything moral crimes.

During this rant I'll point out why I'm glad I work for John Christner.

    1. A friend works for a mid size trucking company as a company driver every week he is shorted miles this past week he drove 2600 miles but they claim he was dispatched 2400 miles but only paid him 2300 miles. This goes on multiple times with them and he has to complain weekly to get paid his miles. The PC miler program was designed to rip off drivers. Here at JCT my dispatched miles are usually off 2-5% ever week. But not quite as bad as other companies I know of.

    2. Varible expenses for Lease Operators this has to be the biggest scam ever the last company I drove for it was a straight lease not a lease purchase we had to pay for out of pocket Reefer Fuel, Road Tax, IFTA Tax, Tolls, PrePass, Scale Tickets (Thank God here at JCT ALL that is paid by John) that adds up to a HUGE amount weekly with the Reefer Fuel.

    3. Maintenance Accounts on Lease programs these companies deduct weekly from your settlements a certain amount, now I don't have a problem with them deducting it to cover maintenance issues while you drive the truck but most of them keep it after you leave, now to be all fair they should deduct any repairs at the time you leave but they should give the remainder back. (Again luckily here at JCT they do refund that amount to you and I know several people who have left and they got theirs back. )

    4. Detention pay here is a real touchy subject trucking companies claim that the customers don't pay detention but you can be sitting next to an Independent Owner Operator and according to them they get detention from these same customers. Now they could be lying or they could be telling the truth, but to me it's bad business practice to enter into an agreement with a company knowing they can detain your drivers for 4-24 hrs without compensation, yeah I know I did the same her at JCT they told us during orientation that we won't get detention or layover but you don't have a leg to stand on once you've made the trip here and time commitment. (Luckily it hasn't happened to often here except at a couple shippers and receivers.) I'm not talking about drop dead times we can always turn those loads down if you don't want to wait on them but here I noticed that our drop dead loads are usually ready many many hours earlier then scheduled.

    5. I was speaking to a friend at a large Reefer company who has 4500 trucks on the road and they had a $60 million dollar profit last year and 1 week after announcing this huge profit they cut the shop employees pay by as much as 25% at the same time the owner was bragging about purchasing a $800,000 race horse and a new multi million dollar jet for the company. They do this all along while limiting lease operators to 62 mph governed trucks. (Again luckily here at JCT were not strapped to a truck that can't get from Point A to Point B in a reasonable amount of time. They do limit us to 72 mph but that's at least the speed limit in several states.) This other company actually had the DOT from Wyoming contact the company about their trucks running 55 mph in a 75 mph state and it is causing a hazard on the road, i know some people might say the minimum speed there is 50 mph but that wasn't designed for a company that runs the state allot with thousands of slow trucks. i don't know about you but come cruising along and come up behind 2 of them trying pass each other and that can be an all day affair and they don't have CB's on to tell to get out of the way.

In conclusion back in 1983-1985 I worked for a Air freight forwarder running Hot Shot Freight I was paid 25 cents a mile as a company driver back then and that was good pay the average then was 15-18 cents a mile. Again I know a lady who today gets .22 cents a mile for running a dedicated route and they tell her the compensation is low because she gets to be home daily. In 1983 I knew Owner Operators getting .50 to $1.00 a mile for freight and diesel fuel was if I remember right .55-.70 cents a gallon. I know a HUGE reefer company that has 4500 trucks on the road who still takes loads for 50 cents a mile and gives them to lease operators now they do have a fuel surcharge added on but come on. Oh yeah they have company trucks and you'll never see one of them at those shippers. It just seems like at some point the American businesses have to agree to pay more for shipping rates and the companies not to pocket all that money and share the wealth a little with the drivers. Yes I know I'll hear back that I chose this occupation and the company owners deserve to be rich I'm not saying they can't be filthy rich just give us a fair shot. I do blame the majority of the rate problems with the shippers themselves they raise the price of their products to the public but don't raise the cost of getting it their accordingly.

I'm done and vented now you can all tear it and me a part by telling me I'm still to NEW and I'm a fool and don't know what I'm talking about and your a much more experienced super trucker and you don't hull a load for less then $3.00 a mile.

I've pulled out of Wilcox many times only once for Otis Spunkmeyer and that was last week to Dallas so we all know how well that went. I'm hanging out near Sparks,NV at the Loves waiting to go to Wally World tonight at 2100. I really enjoyed the drive up NV 95 that's some nice scenery, stayed last night in Tonapah,NV cool little town.

    haul
Only thing I can say to the contrary is you may have spelled haul wrong, unless of course you were hauling a hull. Well maybe you meant it as like the outer covering of a load, like the hull of a nut or the hull of a load.
Of course I am just razzing yah, Good rant.

    Jarbo Thanks this.

95 is a cool road, Have the old Hotel in Goldfield NV, they did a Ghost Adventures tv show there, was eerie the hauntings they showed. And the Gloryhole Gift shop always kinda chuckle when I seen that.

Might be a couple brothels on 95, I like the one with the ole beech parked(crashed) out front.
