    JCT sounds like a good company, I have a buddy who started there 3 weeks ago and he's running hard. He says it's nothing to get over 3500 miles a week there, is this true?

    I would love to run some miles, I'm so tired of sitting. I'm a lease operator with another company and only get about 2000 miles a week.

    Can someone please post honest mileage est. for the trucks JCT runs and what speed they do this mileage.

    Example;

    Pete 379 5.7 mpg at 65 mph avg.



    Please be honest this is very important.

    I have a 2007 International 9900. For the most part, I run 67-69 mph. My normal fuel economy is in the 5.7-5.8 mpg range. If I'm pushing hard, and run steady 72, I drop down to around 5.3-5.4. However, if I slow down to around 60, I only bump up to around 5.8-5.9. However, I hardly ever weigh less than 78,000. Currently, I weigh 79,700. And I ran down U.S. 491 through the mountains from Salt Lake today. So I can't imagine that I did very well on fuel.

    I really don't think 3500 miles per week is even trying all that hard. As long as I'm up to running, they seem to keep handing me the miles. Since I've been with the company, I've averaged 2750 miles per week. That includes home time, a couple of breakdowns, and a week of basically no miles because I was lucky enough to find every closed road in the west. (literally!) I posted this in another thread, but here are my paid miles per week from the time I started. (straight from my paychecks)

    One thing to note about JCT: Tyson is their biggest customer besides Walmart. I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

    I've been with JCT since 7/25/05 (except for 2 months with broken bone), what I have noticed most is that they leave very little to chance. They monitor the loads closely, repower any that look to be in trouble, and don't keep drivers that have a habit of screwing up. Because their percentage of 'on-time' deliveries is above 95% , they are a 'preferred' carrier with Walmart, Tyson, Leprino, and many others.
    I run an average of 3500 miles a week because that's what I want. I find my profit breaking point is between 3500 and 4000. Many drivers run more and many run less. The driver managers track performances, and figure at what mileage their drivers seem to do best and run them that way. So how you perform determines your treatment. When I was still helping my daughter with college, I ran every mile I could beg, borrow, or steal. Now I'm taking a slowdown break and still making all I need.
    As with everything and everyone else, at JCT, you get what you give.

    Seems to me that they don't hire more drivers then they have freight as many of these other companies do.

    Thanks for that helpful post. Would you mind clarifying one thing? What do you mean by "my profit break is between 3500 and 4000 miles? Is that just the point where you're making the money you want? Surely that's not break even.

    And I was surprised you recognized that truck I took a picture of and new the driver. I was thinking, "what a small world".

    Yeah, I would hope that isn't your break even point. If it is, are you including a salary for yourself on your expense side?
