We fuel at the J and we usually run around 70. Seems we get good miles for a week or two then they sick us relaying and then getting stuck on loads that take 2 days to delv. , then sit for a day and then another day to load. Never have turned a load down or never have refused to do a relay. One of the biggest down falls is the shop. You take your truck in to be fixed and they dont fix it then you end up breaking down and having to sit again.
BigKid2 Thanks this. -
Try slowing down, you're burning your profits out the pipe. I've slowed down to 60-62 and save avg of 600+ a month in fuel. I stay away from the j also mainly cuz they are more expensive after our discount. .07 cents at loves and. 06 cents t/a. I agree shop gets irritating sometimes. I found out if you go in Thursday and Fridays they get things done alot faster.hwy40blu Thanks this.

Hello one and all, I will have my year of OTR experiance complete right after the holidays are over. I have went through and read about 80% of this thread and have had alot of questions answered and come up with others. I guess one of my biggest is the fact that this thread was started over 3 yrs ago and some have come and gone and others are still there and we all know and here all of the BS and lack of the total story from most of the disgrunted drivers but my question is at the current time what is the overall feel of working for JCT??? It seems to still about 85% positive or better. I am all to aware that a L/P in not the optimum way to go about owning your own truck but under the current economy situations that many of us have been under this is usually the only viable way. Ive read many of you who seem to bash those of us who now have non-optimum credit scores but you all are not always aware of why these situations have arose. Between a nasty divorce and being laid off last year from GM (we all know about their situation), my personals financial situation is not in a position to provide a $20,000 down payment on a truck. But enough of my situation. If anyone could politely give me some insight on how well JCT is running now, how they treat their drivers, miles, and all the likes and dislikes then I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Overall still a good company. Miles are still there, they are constantly getting new customers. Most disgruntled are usually with the shop. Yes I get tired of peoplebashing l/p like we're stupid. Once again advantage of leasing is if it doesn't work for you you can just walk away with no strings attached whereas having your own truck one you're stuck with the truck and second you're responsible for your fuel taxes, 2290, and tolls. Like we tell everyone on here jct isn't for everyone. But if you're willing to work hard and manage your truck right you'll be very happy here. Length of time between timeoff is up to you. I usually stay out 4-5 weeks then take 3-4 days off. Still avg about 5400 take home a month.

I will tell you one positivething about a lease is when it comes to tax time. Alease is 100% tax write off as were if you purchase a truck you can only take depreciation and intrest paid on note.

Alanp613, I talked to a recruiter today and had all of my other questions answered except for the truck selection process... I have a certain make and model that I really want and willing to work very hard for and not very keen on settling for anything else cuz if Im going to be making the payments then I want it to be what I want... A lil selfish I know but its my money as I see and I plan on making this a long term thing. The next ? I have that Ijust recently thought of is can you lease and own multiple trucks and provide your own drivers for them and you pay them as you see fit, kinda like a small fleet without having to go to the logistics side of JCT? Are you allowed to pick your own driver mgr or request one or are you stuck with who they give you? If you can who would you suggest? I consider myself a runner, not just the average driver because if Im going to be away from my family for several weeks at a time I want and expect to be working as much as I legally can, but at the same time when I do end uip wanting to go home I expect to be home on the day I requested so to me your DM is the one person besides yourself that can make or break you as an l/p operator so a good relationship and chemistry is a must.

Mr. Clean, I am a previous driver for JCT, and I'm not happy about what happened to me with my termination but I do not blame that on JCT as a hole. JCT is a great company to drive for. I had a great time with them and wish I was still there. But due to 1 mistake I made and yes I made a mistake that caused my termination. But the way it was done by the 1 person did not make me happy. I am not upset with JCT as a whole, like I said I enjoyed my time there and if I could I would go back to them even with that 1 person still there. I hope that answers your question of how a driver feels about JCT.

As far as selection its what they got available at time of orientation. After 90 days you have the opportunity to trade in for something you like that's on the yard that's newer than the one you got from orientation. Some of the newer guys have mentioned you could request what you want but I don't know how credible that was.
Yes they do allow fleet owners, at least they did when I first started. But the driver have to go through their hiring process.
As for dm they are assigned to you. But you may request a new one if the one you have don't work out. My dm is Tom and he's an awesome dm. He runs me good and gets me home ontime every time.hwy40blu Thanks this.
