Sounds good to me too. Go where the money is now. When the money is gone, go somewhere else.

I just come out of Jersey city, and had to drive clear to Harrisburg PA to find a truck stop that I culd get in to weigh my load. They were full of O/O s M/T sitting there making there truck payments, waiting for a load. With the auto makers shutting down, and the slow economy, this is not a good time to be an owner operator. We lease operators are at least running, and if times get that bad, I give JCT back my truck, and go back to my un-second mortgaged home.

lets see jdrentzjr you figure numbers pretty good now, add up the fuel tax, highway use tax, plates and permits, lumpers, tolls, scales, reefer fuel.lots of savings over yrs. time so not a bad deal for anyone just starting out....i have done my research check what the rest lease/purchase are offering..nothing....and some have less than perfect credit so interest rate gonna be high on new truck....so the $52,000 that jct makes deduct the above and c what comes out. i start in july and researched all companies and this one is best for l/o

and not all trucks have side notes.....and not all are for five yrs....

HEY LMB one good thing is in the reefer biz everyones gotta to eat.:biggrin_2551:

(fuel tax, highway use tax, plates and permits, lumpers, tolls, scales, reefer fuel.) I would bet that those add up to at least $52,000.00 over 5 years.

Guys, buying from a dealer can have its perks like JCT has theirs. In the end, the dealer or in this case JCT gets the money. However, its your chose where you get your truck from. For example, anyone could out buy a truck and lease on to JCT and make money off them. In the case where you lease, you and JCT win and you don't have to worry about getting your truck repossessed.

ddamius you have a valid point , however not everyone gets hit with the BIG INTEREST.

I have never had a truck that was over 6.5% interest ( good credit pays off ) .

My latest truck is a new WESTERN STAR , is a 1 of the last 2007's off the line, bought it when the 2009s were introduced , got 2 years depreciation off the list $ + additional discount , previous truck did the same thing + bought it in Canada with HIGH US$ against low CAN $ at the time = big savings.

Sold my old tractor + the $ set aside in the NEW TRUCK fund and I had very little $ to pay for a new truck and no FINANCE INTEREST.

Granted its take quite a few years to get to this point , and if I were starting out today things would be different.

you have good point here too.
i'm o/o myself, had 4 trucks runing a year ago. Then it got really slow so i sold 3 of them one by one... I still have paid off truck but thinking going with JCT because my Volvo is 9 years old, 900 thousand miles on it - gonna need major work on engine soon and just starting to fall apart. Trucking in Chicago just terrible now, they offering 1600$ to go to LA. There is no local container work either so im tempted to drop everything and live in JCT truck for a while - just tired of trying to squeeze dolar by dollar. If things will improve i will buy trucks again. Anyone know if jct allow to sign as incorporated?
