But you are assuming you would get a new truck. I talked to a guy a few months ago and all he had to choose from were old trucks. He ended up with a 2007 Pete 379 that had 772,000 miles on it that he had to pay $570 a week for 54 months before it would be his for $1.00If you can get a pretty new truck it might not be terrible but if you get an older one then it is a terrible deal.

Yep, I left JCT on my own accord, and I am driving for Pumpkin, on a dedicated run out of the port of Wilmington,NC, 13 miles from my house.
I am home at least 2 nights a week, and EVERY week end. I run NC,SC,TN,KY,GA,and VA. Sorta like truck drivers retirementStoney and grannylane Thank this. -
no major repairs got it with 12k miles and have over 248k on it now, really just normal wear and tear replacements,,(tires, egr cooler, dpf cleaning,etc....) mileage is 6-6.5 most days/loads,sometimes in excess of 7 but thats rare,,,keep in mind that i stay around 68-70 mph,,so if u are willing to run 65 or less then add a 1/2 mpg or so.daywalker24 and Alanp613 Thank this.

so when his 90 days are up he can trade into a much newer truck as they come available, and keep in mind also that he may have wanted a pete "hood" bad enough to pass up other newer trucks on the lot, besides most of the trucks that have high mileage are in great shape and if anything catastrophic happens then jct works with you on the bill. case in point....the work being done on my truck right now (dpf cleaning, dosing injector,alignment/egr cooler replacement, fed annual inspection,4 new drive tires, round of battries, and a few other minor items is going to be well over my maintenance escrow,,john picks up the tab and until its paid back, my witholding for escrow just goes from .07cpm (normal) to .10 cpm ,,that comes to about 90bucks a wekk more than usual,,no sweat!Alanp613 Thanks this.

bigkid2,,i see from your prior posts that you had a bad experience at orientation, and ever since then you have taken every opportunity to malign jct,,while i can appreciate your angst (im a pretty good size fellow myself), i take um bridge at the treatment you give this thread,,it is meant as a positive thread that has invaluable info for people looking for the straight scoop, i have been blessed since coming here,it has quite literally changed the way my family lives,,i spent years and years getting a great paycheck one week only to be followed by 6-7 bad ones,,forever behind the 8 ball so to speak,i am able to say yes to things like beach trips and tires for the minivan and even some decent christmas gifts now, for the first time in my career i have an ira acct and life insurance and COMPLETE control over my hometime and choice of dispatch,,private school for my little girl,,etc...etc..,,,i was so close to every limit that had i seen some of your posts prior to coming here,i would have decided to pass on what has been a life changing experience for my family and for me,, i hate that it didnt work out for you here, but beware what you post,, you just might dicourage someone like medaywalker24, Jarhed1964, BigR and 4 others Thank this.

Yes but the guy I talked to his choice was take that truck or leave at his own expense. He had been there for over 2 months and had only made about $3000 in that time. He was pretty much broke and losing his house and wife. What do you do if you can't make it 3 months? I am very glad what happened with orientation happened to be honest because I would also not be in the financial position I am in now if I had stayed at JCT because I feel the lease I am in at ACT is better in every possible way.
-
funny i thought you were with risinger or is that the same as act? Also you use any excuse to come here and talk about how some other lease is soooo much better than jct's. I don't like negative people who try to justify their position in life by their own failure being the reason for where they ended up. Your hiding behnd a facade of being truly happy when its obvious your not(jaded). Have a nice pretending to be happy lifeJarhed1964, Alanp613 and grannylane Thank this.

I left Risinger March 1st for ACT. Made 23k since I started here on 3/17 so my happiness is not an act. I bet no solo JCT lease driver has made that. I am just trying to keep people from going to JCT and ending up in bankruptcy. Don't listen to me though everybody has to find out for themselves. If you aren't willing to run very illegal you won't make it there and if you end up on elogs you can't even run illegal and you are really screwed. I don't need to run anywhere close to illegal to make it at ACT.

HEY I was just in contact with them and might start as O/O without doing mileage first. I ran my own business before and talked them into giving me shot. I wouldn't have to do the "mileage" part go straight to percentage $$$!!!
My JCT Recruiter called again left out a phone number, clocks ticking on heavy freight time so pumpkin it may be!? JCT is probably more driver oriented but home time control load control is a big plus! JCTs lease is great but I will check more into final numbers soon TY for a great thread J.L.
-It's not the drive ahead of you; It's the drive in you-Alanp613 and grannylane Thank this. -
will b in orientation on 8/11, gave notice to work, no response from them to when they want their trk. doent matter anyway. cant wait. the only thing i can say is that THEIR IS a company for everyone u just have to find the right fit. nothings perfect however realizing the only constant in life is CHANGE
Alanp613 and grannylane Thank this.
