Delivering just north of Seattle in Everett near the Boeing plant tomorrow at 11:00. Yes payment is 662 plus 139 for down payment for 1 year but the older trucks were 539 to 569 for 4 to 5 yrs. Those trucks had 350k to 700k miles on them. I just feel that in 5 years this truck will be worth more and I can hopefully run it for a few years with no payments. 2 other drivers who went thru orientation with me picked older trucks and both have had breakdowns. Got my next preplan, p/u in Brewster, WA Sat. going to Tulsa, OK., delivering Weds. 154 miles empty 1846 miles loaded. Drove over the Cascadia Mts. today thru Grants Pass, OR. Fuel mileage is down to 6.9, but I guess I shouldn't complain haulin thru the mts. at 78,800 lbs. Went thru a scale house today full of fuel, drive tandem weighed 33,750 and trailer tandem weighed 33,750, steers were 11,800. Glad I didn't have any fat girls with me. As of today, since 11/26, I drove 5555 miles on the odometer. Thats 12 days and 1 34hr reset. By day 14 I should have over 6,000 miles. The better fuel mileage with the newer truck should help my bottom line. The drivers I talked to with the older trucks are getting 5 to 5.5 mpg compared to 7.0 mpg. At 7.0 mpg I need 793 gals of fuel at 5.0 mpg they r using 1111. Thats a difference of 318 gallons of fuel over the same miles, which at $3.8 per gallon comes to $1208.4. Any ways BADA-BING Y'ALL

Sorry just redid the math total weght full of fuel is 79,300 lbs. I thought it felt kinda heavy. To answer u Carolina they control the maint. acc. in so much as they hold it for u. When u need it they release it. U only pay that till u hit $5,000 then u stop. At 3,000 miles a week that comes to $210 a week. If u don't touch it for 24 weeks then thats $.07 a mile to u. With $.90 a mile plus $.44 a mile fuel surcharge plus $.07 u get $1.41 a mile.

You have the option to keep adding to your maint account after you reach 5K. A good business man would let it ride

Actually a good interest bearing acct. or IRA or 401k would be a good idea also. $200 a week should be working for u.

Thats a good idea but remember, an IRA or "qualified" account has limits on how much you can contribute each year, plus I would think you'd want to keep some of it liquid. I could see topping out at $5k with JCT and after that putting .07-.10/mile into a liquid account that you can use for repairs also. Set your own upper limit.

Looks like you are running some good miles, raider. This is good info you post.
