    To answer your questions

    1. They are running a business too, like jarhead said, if you were to go to a dealer and try to get a brand new truck, unless you have a substantial amount of down payment and good credit, you will either get a high interest rate or just denied.

    2. The stop pay is normal for most reefer companies.

    3. Yes after 5 years it will most likely cost that much. If you're capable of paying more each week, you'd be able to pay it off early.

    Alan,
I realize they're in business, but ... 25%? That's a little on the extreme side, wouldn't you admit? A guy with crap credit can get a house for 8% today. JCT needs to understand the economic times we are in. And a 25% rate tells me that they're more interested in money instead of a fair market. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

Also, I've done a lot of reefer work. We always got paid for every stop/pickup and drop minus the first and last. 3 pickups and 3 stops paid 4 (whatever the amount the company you're with pays) fees to the driver. But what it sounds like to me is that JCT will expect me to run around for free picking up 4 different stops. Is that acceptable to anyone?

I'm glad to hear you can pay the truck off early. That's good.

One other question for tonight... I am supposed to get (per April) a guaranteed 2500 mile minimum for the OK. regional fleet. However, they have everything else under the sun in that very long contract, but no guarantee, nor attachment. Anyone on a regional fleet know how this works? I want it in writing since they have everything in writing... I should get that too... right?

Also, what about the fact that the Contractor only gets 60% of the paid detention? I know other O/O & L/O and they're getting 100%. It's not the company's money...it's the driver's. We wait, not them.

i dont know what to say in response, that is the nature of the company. jct is not a perfect company, but is a company where you can make money. are there better out there, of course. they have an open door policy so if the criterias don't sound too appealing to you, you dont have to even sign on with jct. good luck to you with your decision making.

So I finally sat down and read through Hill Bros. leasing contract and based on what I read vs. what Jennifer told me, I'm better off at JCT. Granted, I need to read JCT's contract/s as well, but considering my circumstances I firmly believe JCT is going to be my home away from home.

Don't forget unlike a traditional loan, at JCT if it doesn't work out, you can walk away. Don't have to worry about selling the truck, or screwing up your credit with a repo.

The less in risk factor, I think makes up for the cost your talking about.

hello to all again. been busy so i haven't been here for awhile. just wanted to comment on my experiences so far with JCT, the problems I've had so far is not with JCT, but with the shippers and recievers who don't give a crap that u drove 4 hrs this morning to get to them and then hold you up 6 hrs to load or unload you, effectively killing your day. Got to broken bow tyson plant at noon on friday and didn't get loaded till 10:30 pm. sorry but when i get up at 8 to get to you by noon I cannot start driving at 10:30 at night. So got up at 7 and started my trip to SF only to find del time on mon. is now 6 am. Couldn't do that so repowered again. past 2 weeks almost all my loads have been repowers 1 way or the other. Often when I get repowered its where i cannot get another load. u can expect to lose a day to load or unload. so to get that 3000 mile week u better be runnin 600 miles a day for 5 days cause ur gonna lose 2 days dealin with the bs from shippers and consignees.so far the people I've deat with at JCT have been very fair and easy to deal with. I've been screwed a few times but they do honor thier IOU's. Haven't been makin the coins I wanted to make yet, but I've taken some time off, just make sure you got your piggy bank full b4 u take off. also they stuck me in Houston for xmas and i dead headed home to fl cause my kids were flying in. cost me about 500 in fuel for that onebut they have been giving what i ask for since then. there is still some adjustments needed to be made with the elogs but they are dealing with it, just gonna take time. The cascadia is running great gettin 7.3 mpg helps offset the higher truck payment. 20k miles since thanxgiving and not 1 problem. 8 weeks in and 20k is 2500 miles a week average with 4 days for xmas off plus 2 more days off. could use a few more and I'm workin on 'em. Capt zoom if ur out there gimme a call 386-383-6236, or any one else.

Also that runnin at 62 mph ha you aint got the time for that, unless you wanna waste another day outta your week for resets. Lets see 1 day to reset 2 days for unloading and loading, that leaves u 4 days to make 3000 miles. Thats 750 miles a day. Try that at 62 mph. 550 miles a day for five days is 2750 plus another 250 on loading days will get u ur 3000 miles and if u keep yourself to 8 hours a day u'll never have to reset. 550 / 8 equals 69 mph. Thats what i've been doin. Good luck to all and be safe

Also one more thing this trip im on now is the perfect example of how the planners work. Repowered this load at 6pm today with 1 hr of drive time left. Shut down tonite and will get and early start tomorrow. Del. Is 6am weds. Got 1900 miles to do in 3 days. I can run it at 62 mph but that'll chew up 30 hrs oops gotta reset again cause i only 32 hrs left since my last reset on weds. If i run it at 72 i only chew up 26 hrs so i can still get a load late weds. Or early thurs instead of waiting till fri. At 72 mph im gettin 7 mpg. I cant afford another reset.
