Well, I just submitted my app. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.
On a side note. I went from page 1 - 407 today. My brain is mush.Last edited: Jan 31, 2012

This is EXACTLY why I just terminated my contract. Not bad-mouthing JCT, they have been quite successful without me and they will continue to be after I left; also, many drivers are quite happy with their careers at JCT and I wish you all the best.
My experience at JCT, while brief, has led me to believe me that I am simply not cut out to run reefer, and as a former manager in the car business, I am a REAL STICKLER for adhering to the terms of a contract. I was getting more and more irritated at how they seemed to play fast and loose with their end of the contract on the points illustrated above, all while holding my feet to the fire on my obligations (can't blame them for that really, they have like 900 trucks out there and they exist to make money--I get that). I was in it for the money, not because I love diesel and the open road so much.
The thing that made me finally throw in the towel was how often I had to sit around all day waiting for a trailer (Tyson--no detention!! WTF!?!?) and then would have to drive 10-11hrs immediately to have a prayer of making OTD. I AM NOT BADMOUTHING JCT!! I'm just saying I had been moving dry freight on a dedicated account before working for JCT and adjusting my circadian rhythms that quickly was proving extremely difficult...I am more suited to local day shift work or dry dedicated freight like I had been running (reefer ain't for everyone). I came to the yard and had a conversation with Mallory, and he got me a bus ticket home, we shook hands, and he even left me on a "rehire" status if I ever want to come back (I don't think so).
It doesn't matter anyway, I think I'm going back to the car business where I was before I started driving a truck (another business that ain't for everyone).
I raise my glass of Windex in a toast to all of you...happy trails.
Doc W, trucker43, BigR and 1 other person Thank this. -
Zoom what kind of miles did u avg. Was it hard to get loads to nc
-
I have pretty much decided to stay where I'm at. At least I KNOW what I will get paid, the miles I run, and none of the evident headaches that so many of you have incurred.
Carolina Drifter...
I have talked to 5 JCT drivers either on the CB or in person over the last month. One loves it, and has been there 7 months. He had only been trucking for a year before going with JCT. He probably doesn't know all the "in's and out's" of the industry, ya know? 2 others HATE it! One is about to turn in his keys, the other has been there I think he said 3 months and told me that things have really changed. He only averaged 2400+/- a week, and would sit FOREVER (esp. at Tyson's -- wow... that's a common occurrence it seems, huh?), and not get a plug nickel or a thank you for it! The last 2 -which have been with JCT for a while- told me the exact same thing, and that is: not enough miles anymore, the eLogs are killing JCT because they are still dispatching like they used to (a little on the Outlaw Trucker side if ya get my drift, where you would have to "manipulate" the logs to make it work), too many repowers (because of eLogs), and no home time anymore to speak of.
So... like I started out by saying... I'm stayin' put! I hope that helps a little..... -
Man Capt. Zoom, it seems you have confirmed everything I was afraid of! Thanks! I have already made up my mind anyway, but thanks for the confirmation. How long were you there, BTW?
trucker43 Thanks this. -
Thanks for reply.

As I posted earlier 7.2 mpgs at 72 mph. 2012 Cascadia

Yep I sat at Tyson in Broken Bow once for 10 hrs. Sorry it didn't work out for you zoom, but the miles do seem to be dwindling with all these repowers.trucker43 Thanks this.
