Wow, so all truck payments will have to be refunded? All fuel costs and other associated costs too? Wow! And the drivers will still get to keep the same pay they received and not have to refund the difference between what they were paid and what a real company driver would be paid? Of course not. Someone like Alan would have to give back 60 cents per mile for all the miles he drove through the years, plus every dime of fuel surcharge he received, plus he would have to return the truck and the title to it. Not likely.
If you are against being a "glorified company driver," why did you ever sign on in the first place?![]()

Ok i have read pretty much this whole thread. Alot of it is dated like the speed of the truck. It said a few hundred pages ago 70 recruiter says 68 which is it. They couldnt tell me if the engine is cut back on power. Also they say three months exp does that sound right. And are you guys really driving 3k a week and how often do you hit the northeast.
-
Governed at 68, Power shouldnt be cut. And 80% of our freight goes west. Avg is more around 2700 but depending on your dm over 3k is doable,
-
Would you still say that JCT is still a good place to work.
-
Yes, but keep in mind youre running your own business, ifyou dont sshow the effort or the right attitude, they dont need to put up with you either
Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Speed depends on the truck. The 2012 Cascadias are at 68, but the older trucks are still up at 72.
They do not mess with the engine at all. The trucks are governed from the factory.
It was 6 mo when I started, but 3 mo would make sense. They are probably having a hard time finding drivers that are willing to lease.
3000 miles/wk was normal for me. Most of the time, I got more than 3000 miles. Rarely less. Me biggest week was just over 3800 miles. I went to the NE quite often when I First started...not so much later on. It really depends on what freight lane you get stuck in.
Going back to the experience requirement: It is concerning that JCT has lowered their experience requirement down to 3 months now. A year ago, you had to have 1 year of experience to work there. Then it dropped to 6...and now 3. That shows that they are having trouble hiring/keeping people. Is this business model that they have really working?? Obviously, the all lease fleet does not promote a long tenure, and most people run away when they hear lease. Was it such a good idea to get rid of the company side??
