JCW and Prime

Well, he got his gold card yesterday morning at 9:45am, and by 11PM, we had him at the Campus Inn in Springfield. Took all day for the school's 7 students that were testing to get through, and then there was "graduation." After receiving his certificates, and paperwork, we hauled ### to the restaurant where my mom, dad, and our 11 year old were waiting. Took some pictures of all of us, as my brother is headed to see my extended family next month, and my mother wanted pics to send with him. Got J a pic for his phone so he can look at his girls and remember why he's doing this.

Dropped of the 16 year old at my best friend's apartment, where she is staying during the week so that she can get to her gymnastics practice. (4 hrs/day in THIS heat.....YUCK!) Ran out to Mom's, traded cars (2001 Cavilier vs 1995 Ford Escort wagon, no contest). On the road to Springfield.

Got him there at about 11, unloaded his stuff, and I turned around and came home.

He had physical, drug test, interview, SIM test, and a few other things today and said it went well. He also said that the food is "edible." Which is family code for "if there is nothing else to eat, I guess I'll have to eat it." Made me giggle. So, if nothing else, he misses my cooking.

Two more days of Orientation, then he'll be starting his training.

 

Day 2. Insurance, hazmat, sexual harassmant, load security, road side assist, e-logs and safety. Applied for TWIC.

Tomorrow is passport application, weclome, qualifications and wellness, permits, dispatch operations, taxes and certifications. Then he'll meet the dispatchers and field manager.

Food was still "edible." And as per Seebs reccomendation, he'll hit the food at the main building tomorrow.

 

I'll let him know, IP. He was harping on me about my (lack of) eating. So, he's doing ok. I will set my mind to actually eat regularly, so he doesn't have to worry about me. I miss him something fierce, but I'll get by.

 

All classroom stuff is complete. His trainer is supposed to be there on Monday, then he's off.

 

Ok, so he's up there in the wonderful 85 degrees while I'm sitting here with it 106 outside. (This was a little earlier this evening, current temps are 83/90) My air conditioner is still fighting to get the house cooled down and he's turning his UP. I'm jealous.

 

Update for JCW. He's still at the hotel. His trainer DID arrive today, finally. They went out on the pad, and the trainer put him thru his paces. Trainer has a class tomorrow, and wants JCW to take the truck, and practice shifting and backing maneuvers while he is in class. After that, dinner and on the road to California. I'll get more info soon.

 

JCW is spending his (we hope) last night at the Campus Inn, and headed to Joplin in the am for repairs to the trainer's truck for issues that JCW found when he had a look under the hood. Trainer was a-ok with that, as JCW is/was a mechanic. After the repairs are made, I'm not sure what's gonna happen. Wishing I had the $$ to drive to Joplin, since they will be sitting while the truck gets repaired, but oh well. At least they should be moving by 8am.
